The shot goes backstage, and we see Andrew Kelley standing there with a microphone in hand. Standing next to him is none other than Diamond Del Carver. As the fans in the arena see the popular veteran on the video screens, a loud cheer goes up. Andrew Kelley: I am here with Diamond Del Carver, and allow me to say Del…welcome to LEGACY. I guess a lot of people never expected to see you here… Diamond Del Carver: You know, I’ve heard that a lot lately, and it makes me ask the question…why? Why the hell wouldn’t I be here? Look at this roster. Read the names. Greyson Blade. Crash. Adam Davis. Cronos Diamante. Loco Martinez. Mirage. NC-17. Stephen Rawlings. Derek Shane. Crazy Boy. Eli Storm. John Thomas. Chris Turner. X-Calibur. That’s half the damn roster right there…and those are all men I have worked with in the past, or guys who have been on the roster of organizations I have worked for. As far as I am concerned, I fit right in on that list. I’m no better or no worse than any of those guys. Andrew Kelley: But your previous employer… Diamond Del Carver: Which one? You know how many places I have worked in the past? And that’s the key word…the PAST. What is past is past and it is going to stay in the past. I don’t care about any of those other places anymore…I care about this place. This is where I am, and this is where I want to be. I’m not going to waste your time, my time, the fans time, or the boys in the back time by talking about the past. If other people in other organizations want to waste their time talking about me and why I am here, that’s their problem. I am not going to get into that. It’s like that classic song by Boston…Don’t Look Back. Well I ain’t looking back. I’m looking forward. I’m looking forward to see what I can do with LEGACY. Andrew Kelley: Okay fair enough. So let’s talk about your future. Where do you see yourself going here, Del? Diamond Del Carver: First of all, I want to say that it’s damn good to be back on Pay Per View…even if tonight I am just a referee. It’s been almost a year since I have been on a Pay Per View, and it’s good to be back. I want to thank Rob Belote, Smith Cartwright, and everybody else in the office, and the boys in the locker room for giving me this chance. I don’t intend to let them down. Before we talk about what I’m here for, let me remind you who I am here for. Yeah, I think I still have a couple of miles left in the tank. Yeah, there are a couple of spots on my head where I still don’t have stitches…there’s a little more room for a few more scars. There’s a few more blank spots in the record books that could fit my name…but that’s not the only reason I am here. I am here because I love to entertain these people. The fans. They pay my wages, and I do the job they want me to do. I take out their trash. So don’t worry none, this might be a new company but it’s the same old Diamond Del Carver. I’m looking out for number one…and that’s those fans out there…the ones who make this all possible. Carver pauses and smiles as a “DDC” chant goes up throughout the crowd. Diamond Del Carver: Now that we’ve answered the who, if you’re asking me about what I see happening for me? Good question. Well first I’m going to go down to that ring tonight and call that match I’ve been assigned right down the middle. You fans are going to see a hell of a war tonight between two former World Champions, and I’m here to make sure it stays fair. After that is over? I don’t know what I am going to do. That’s up to Mr. Cartwright and the office. Maybe I’ll wait and see who the last man standing is when the war is over between X-Calibur and Loco, and go and try and take that big belt from one of them. I’m a three time World Champion with two different companies…why not make it FOUR with THREE? Or maybe I’ll go talk to my old buddy The Iceman, and remind him who the first man to beat him back in OPW was. Maybe I’ll find myself a partner, and show Murdock and O’Reily something. I have set a record for the most Tag Team Title wins with different partners…so maybe it’s time I added a chapter to that book. Or maybe…maybe I should show that big albino monster of yours who the master of the Falls Count Anywhere match is? How about that? No Limits? That’s just my style…so maybe I should prove that to these fans, and the boys in the back who don’t know me. I’ve fought plenty of monsters in my day…and plenty of evil men. Skull. Mallows. Dreadnaught. The Intruder. HantaKira. DeMitri. I have looked evil in the face, and never back down…so maybe that’s my calling. You ask me what I’m going to do, Andrew. Simple. I’m going to do what I have always done, and what I will always do. I’m going to do whatever I have to do to survive. The fans cheer loudly, as Diamond Del Carver winks, slaps Andrew Kelley on the back and walks away. The shot goes back to the arena.
The broadcast footage switches back to a shot from the ringside area. Josephina Colbert: Our next match is set for one fall. Introducing first… As "Points of Authority" by Linkin Park hits the speakers, the fans start booing. After a quick burst of blue pyro, Stephen Rawlings walks out from the back, wearing a pair of long white ring tights extending all the way to his blue boots. Just as always, he wears his black “Good Enough Isn’t” signature shirt. Not pausing a bit to acknowledge the fans, Stephen simply heads towards the ring. Josephina Colbert: Heading to the ring, hailing from Grand Rapids, Michigan… Stephen… Rawlings!! Bryan Harris: Some people don’t like how “no nonsense” Stephen Rawlings is, but to be honest, I respect that about him. He gets his head ready for a match and doesn’t let anything else get in the way of that focus. Jimmy Yates: Yeah, that’s fine if you’re not looking to be entertained by a wrestler you’re watching. If you don’t need to see a personality? That’s up to you. Bryan Harris: I don’t, actually. I don’t need a wrestler I’m a fan of to have four or five talents and a singing voice and aspirations of being a great actor. I just need him to be able to WRESTLE, and that’s what Rawlings does best. Alan Ducard: Well Stephen’s approach hasn’t endeared himself to many fans, however during his tenure here in LEGACY, Rawlings has managed to capture the World Championship, the World Tag Team Championships, the Tao of Valor Championship, and he was the first ever Hawkins Memorial Tournament winner. It’s hard to argue with results. Getting into the ring, Stephen takes off his shirt and tosses it over the top rope towards the time keeper’s table and starts one final round of stretching after he grips the tape around his wrists. Once Rawlings’ theme song fades under, Josephina Colbert continues. Josephina Colbert: And his opponent… "Blow Me Away" by Breaking Benjamin hits hard over the Public Address system and the lights fade slowly. At the appropriate point in the song, green pyrotechnics engulf the entire entrance way and it's sides. Bryan Harris: Here we go again with the melodrama. Jimmy Yates: Oh shove it, Harris. Just because it's not Rawlings coming out. Bryan Harris: Yeah, he already did and that was brilliant. From the pyrotechnics comes a man dressed in a suit with a silk green undershirt and a cane. After a few minutes of standing there, the pyrotechnics cease and he stands there with a grin on his face, dreadlocks over his eyes. Josephina Colbert: Hailing from The Bronx in New York City… Crrrrrrronos… Diamante!! Bryan Harris: Is that? Jimmy Yates: Oh I think it is! Alan Ducard: Voodoo. He's back. This doesn't bode well for a lot of people outside of Cronos' good graces. At that moment, Voodoo whips his dreadlocks out of his face and waves in a twisted fashion and the lights give way to pitch black. Alan Ducard: What's going on? Did he just want us to know he's back? Or is this some new thing? Bryan Harris: Who knows? He's a psychopath. Strobe lights quickly start up and what comes out of the entrance way isn't one Cronos Diamante. What comes out is a Crow that flies directly at Stephen Rawlings and causes him to dodge. Jimmy Yates: Ha Ha Ha! Poor Rawlings. Bryan Harris: Shut up, Jimmy. If I wanted your advice I'd… Alan Ducard: Settle down children. Just as the Crow lands in the rafters and the strobe lights stop, the entrance way is empty but the crowd is cheering loudly. Bryan Harris: TURN AROUND!!! The bell sounds as Rawlings turns around and takes a kick to the gut that doubles him over. Cronos picks Rawlings up for a suplex but drops him on his gut across the top rope with a smirk on his face, crowd cheering the entire time. Cronos steps back, sizes him up ala Kevin Nash, then runs straight forward and hit's a running knee to the side of the head, knocking him off the ropes and to the outside of the ring. Stephen lands on his feet and shakes off the damage. When Rawlings gets up onto the apron, Cronos moves in and tries to come after his opponent, but Stephen reaches out, grabs Diamante around the head and drops backwards down to the arena floor, pulling Cronos’ neck across the top rope and letting go, slingshotting him back into the middle of the ring. Alan Ducard: Quick thinking there by Stephen Rawlings, buying himself an opportunity to get back into the ring. Stephen hops up onto the mat and ducks under the top rope and gets back into the ring. Cronos stops holding his own throat after getting choked by the ropes and he begins to lay into Rawlings with a flurry of fists, connecting with the majority of them, knocking him off balance. Cronos rears back for a haymaker and connects. One more time! He rears up for a third and Rawlings catches the arm and Irish whips Cronos into the ropes. Rawlings ducks under a clothesline from Diamante on the return and waits for Cronos to rebound off the other ropes. Anticipating a second return, Stephen attempts a standing dropkick, but he finds nothing but mat as Cronos grabs the ropes to stop any further momentum gain. Alan Ducard: Both competitors are fighting each other tooth and nail. Cronos quickly moves to the corner, hops up onto the second turnbuckle and leaps off, going for a double axhandle, but Rawlings catches him and flings him backwards with a monkey flip style throw. As Stephen moves in to lift Diamante back up, Cronos reaches up, grabs his opponent and rolls Rawlings up for a pinfall attempt. One.. Kickout! Rawlings kicks out and schoolboy's Cronos in his own pinning attempt. One.. Kickout! Cronos kicks out himself and attempts a schoolboy pin of his own before he realizes he's next to the ropes and hears no count. Cronos relinquishes his hold on Rawlings only to be pulled to the middle of the ring with a cradle pin. One… Tw… Kickout. Rawlings and Cronos are both back to their feet quickly and ready to
go at it again. Before they do; however, the crowd begins cheering loudly
for the fine show of technical wrestling. For the briefest of Jimmy Yates: The people have spoken, they’re enjoying this match so far. Bryan Harris: The people have spoken? What kind of bullshit is that? Alan Ducard: Ok children, settle down. We have a match to call. Rawlings moves around a bit, trying to pick his spot, but Diamante wants to keep the match going. Cronos moves in and tries to lock up, but Rawlings ducks behind it and drills Diamante with a kick to the leg. Cronos spins around and connects with a backfist which stops Stephen dead in his tracks. Cronos turns around and moves in and attempts the Kata-Ha-Jime submission. Rawlings blocks the arm control and rolls in behind Cronos, driving him to the mat stomach first with a hard shove and applies an ankle lock. Trevor Rollins checks in on Cronos and all he does is stare at him. Jimmy Yates: An ankle lock isn't going to make Cronos submit. No way, especially not this early in the match. Bryan Harris: As weird as he’s been lately, Cronos is probably enjoying the pain anyway. Alan Ducard: He still has to do his job and check in on him. Bryan Harris: Don’t get me wrong, I hope Stephen breaks Cronos’ ankle. Cronos rolls through the pain and onto his back, letting out a painful yell, and kicks Rawlings squarely in the mouth. The kick causes Rawlings to stagger backwards and get to his feet. After getting up himself, Cronos rushes forward, lifting Rawlings up, and slams him down to the mat. Cronos takes the mount position and wraps his right arm around Rawlings head, starting the sequence for an Arm Triangle but Rawlings reckonizes it and blocks it quickly. Cronos sensing the block quickly dismounts and takes a side attack only for Rawlings to roll around him and apply a side sleeper hold. Bryan Harris: Technically perfect. He's countering everything Cronos throws at him. With ease mind you. Alan Ducard: It's very good submission style wrestling from both of them, Bryan. Cronos, almost as if he heard that, throws a few elbows into Rawlings gut that forces him to relinquish the hold ever so slightly. Cronos wastes no time in escaping and while doing so grabbing hold of Rawlings' right arm. Cronos plants one foot under the arm of Rawlings, at his rib cage, and the other on the side of his face and begins pulling back as hard as he can. Bryan Harris: CHEATING! That's an illegal hold! Alan Ducard: And the referee forced Cronos off him for it. Jimmy Yates: Rawlings has got to be frustrated with how much work he put into possibly submitting Cronos, only for him to escape by such a narrow margin. Bryan Harris: Lucky! Alan Ducard: Actually, no. Cronos is a MMA guy. He's just as capable as Rawlings with submissions as Rawlings is. I'm just surprised he wasn't using chokeholds after what we've seen thus far. Bryan Harris: Yeah, though a lot of those MMA chokeholds aren’t exactly legal. Rawlings rolls out of the ring to recover from the recent Cronos assault. Cronos quickly ascends the top rope and perches himself there, eyeing Rawlings very carefully. Jimmy Yates: This doesn't look good for Rawlings. Alan Ducard: Whenever he goes to the air it's never a good thing, Jimmy. He risks hurting himself more than his opponent. He's not a young man anymore. Bryan Harris: Stephen… NO!!! As Rawlings turns around, Cronos launches off the top rope with a cross-body block. The impact sends Cronos rolling toward the announcers booth. Cronos stands up, clutching his ribs, looks to Bryan and steals his water bottle, taking a sip out of it and carrying it with him. Bryan Harris: Hey! He stole my water! Jimmy Yates: I'm sure you can afford another one, Bry. But if you really want it back then go get it. Alan Ducard: I don't think so. And here it comes… Cronos slightly unscrews the lid then shoves it down Rawlings' pant leg and whips him into the guardrail that side first. The water bottle explodes in his pants and it looks as if he pissed his pants. Cronos is barely audible as he speaks to a fan. Cronos Diamante: He pissed himself. Heh heh heh heh. Cronos rolls Rawlings into the ring and follows him in. Alan Ducard: Cronos is in firm control of this match-up now. He's like a man on fire. Bryan Harris: Old man. What is he? Pushing eighty now? Alan Ducard: Don't be ridiculous! Jimmy Yates: Ninety? Ducard ignores the absurdity and calls the action as Cronos pulls Rawlings
up and whips him into the corner. Cronos follows him in with an attempt
at a running knee but Rawlings lifts an elbow up and moves Bryan Harris: Old man's out of control now. Jimmy Yates: As opposed to what? He's unstable and borderline psychotic. How can that psycho ever be what you call "in" control? Alan Ducard: Would you quit it, you two? We have a match to call! Rawlings initiates the grapple and follows it up with a snap suplex. Rawlings doesn't let it end there; however, as he quickly locks up again and this time executes a brainbuster. Staying in on the attack, Stephen follows it up by hoisting his opponent up off the mat like he’s going to attempt a suplex, but he drops Cronos forward across the top rope and uses the slingshot effect of the ropes to fling Cronos over his head and to the mat with a loud sickening thud. Bryan Harris: Holy shit! That was the fastest suplex I've ever seen. Jimmy Yates: I don't care how fast it was. That thing had to hurt! Alan Ducard: I have to agree with both of you. I think the strength of that suplex was augmented by the speed at which Rawlings gained from the ropes. Jimmy Yates: Cronos is a tough guy, and he’s starting to get up! When Cronos gets up, he turns to face Rawlings he's met with an ear-clap maneuver. Cronos turns toward the ropes, away from Rawlings, staggered. Rawlings; however, has something else in mind and quickly spins Stephen slightly and lifts his knee to Cronos' stomach, doubling him over. Rawlings rolls over Cronos' back and catches his neck on the way down, executing a vile neckbreaker that sends Cronos to the mat with a loud agonizing scream. Bryan Harris: Brilliant! That was sheer brilliance on the part of Stephen Rawlings. LEG-A-SEE! LEG-A-SEE! LEG-A-SEE! LEG-A-SEE! Alan Ducard: Is Cronos going to get up from that? Jimmy Yates: He's borderline psychotic. Those people don't know what pain truly is. He'll be fine. Just needs to suck some blood or some such nonsense and he'll be fine. Alan and Bryan both turn to Jimmy looking at him as if he were the psychotic one. Jimmy Yates: What!? Alan Ducard: Getting back to our action now. Rawlings attempts an Irish whip but it's quickly reversed by Cronos. Rawlings upon return is flattened with a clothesline that flips him in the air. Cronos stomps on the small of Rawlings' back and he grips at his back and screams in agony. Bryan Harris: That's cold! That's… wait a second. I don't like the looks of this. Jimmy Yates: That look in his eye. Ouch. That's gotta hurt. Cronos stomps on Rawlings' back two more times that has his upper body elevated off the mat ever so slightly. Cronos then quickly kicks Rawlings in the throat and grins as he grabs hold of his throat. Bryan Harris: WHAT THE HELL!?!?! Ref do your job! Alan Ducard: I have to say that's a low blow, even for Cronos. As Rawlings clutches his throat and gasps for air, Cronos quickly grabs hold of his neck and lifts him off the ground but a few feet, staying on his knees while doing so, and then slams him down to the mat hard. Cronos doesn't relinquish the hold; however, and breaks only after the referee forces him to walk away. Jimmy Yates: Wait a minute, what’s this..? The camera turns and we see John James and Matthew Dawson walking across the entrance walkway. As the boos start rolling in, Matthew Dawson slows down halfway to the ring. By the time John James gets to the ring, he’s easily ten feet ahead of his fellow Entourage member. Not hestitating a bit, John James ducks under the top rope and enters the ring. Referee Travis Rollins walks over and starts yelling at John James, warning him not to get involved. James starts walking around the ring, and he immediately gets Cronos’ attention. Alan Ducard: I’m not quite sure what these Entourage members are doing here. Bryan Harris: They may not have a dog in this race, so to speak, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be interested in what’s going on. When Matthew Dawson gets to the ring, he easily hops right over the top rope, which gets the attention of both Travis Rollins and Cronos Diamante. Travis is the first of the duo to get there, keeping with his referee duties to try to keep order in the match. Just as with John James, Rollins starts yelling at Dawson, trying to convince him to leave the ring. While Rollins and Cronos are distracted for a moment, John James walks up behind Cronos and connects with a low blow, then swiftly takes two steps and does a baseball slide underneath the bottom rope. Jimmy Yates: How did I know… With Cronos doubled over, Stephen Rawlings uses all the strength he’s got left, grabs Diamante, lifts him up and drives him into the mat with a modified screwdriver. Bryan Harris: That’s “Finishing Move”!! Count it, ref!! Reaching over, Stephen Rawlings hooks Cronos’ leg and yells at Travis Rollins to count the pinfall. Not seeing John James anymore, the referee watches Matthew Dawson exit onto the apron, and so he makes the count. One… Two… Three. Frustrated because he knows something probably transpired but can’t prove it, Travis Rollins points towards the time keeper’s table, signaling for the bell. Josephina Colbert: Your winner… as a result of a pinfall… Stephen… Rawlings!!! Alan Ducard: I believe we’re about to get a much clearer picture of what just happened here… After the match Dawson and James climb into the ring. He gives them bro hugs, celebrates a little bit more, and then snatches the mic from the ring announcer. Stephen Rawlings: Yes ladies and gentlemen.... Your eyes DO NOT deceive you. Dawson and Matthews stand in this ring with yours truly as TEAMMATES. That's right! TEAMMATES. From this instance on, Stephen Rawlings will no longer be the loner no one cares about. Now Stephen Rawlings will be the man.... The man who takes a team of stars and turns them into SUPER STARS. As a team we will make sure that the only thing anyone EVER talks about is the Entourage, and what they did to make everyone at home go WOW. Together with the Entourage... We will rule this fed, and make sure that for once and for all there is some sort of dignity left in this place. The crowd boos. Stephen Rawlings: I'm sure many of you are wondering how this came to be... The answer is simple... I needed something, and they were able to provide it. When I was lost trying to figure out a solution to my Cronos problem. When I couldnt get the absurdity that was to be my match cancelled, I got a call from some guy calling himself the Director. Dawson was impressed with my work in his match... He vouched to me, and had brought my name up to him. Then they agreed to help me... IF I joined their team... And here I am, the newest member of the most elite wrestling group in the world.. Cronos defeated, and one less problem to worry about now. He takes a breath, knowing he has lots more to say. Stephen Rawlings: I Stephen Rawlings- Suddenly Shadow, the body guard of the Entourage appears at the top of the entrance ramp and quickly makes his way down to the ring. Stephen looks around for a moment then seems a bit confused before looking back to Shadow. Stephen Rawlings: What? What's more important than this? Me... Talking up the Entourage! Where's Shane anyway? He should be out here celebrating this joyious occasion. Shadow: He's gone. The Highlight Of The Night looks confused. Matthew Dawson: What do you mean he's gone? Shadow: He's disappeared... he's not in the locker room, Dr. Mora said he never showed up at the infirmary, and no one has seen him back stage. Matthew Dawson: Right... Well... He turns to Stephen. Matthew Dawson: Looks like we better go look for him. Shadow, Dawson and James exit the ring. Stephen stares amazed. Stephen Rawlings: But my- WHo cares about Der- FINE! He drops the mic and walks to the back with the other three guys, and the footage cuts back to the announce table, where the trio looks confused. Alan Ducard: Well after the Ultimate X match at DESTINED FOR GREATNESS 2008, we didn't see Derek Shane again for a month, so hearing he's disappeared... it's not too surprising, though that was after a loss, not a win like what he got here tonight. Bryan Harris: First of all, Derek Shane's status is Entourage business, and thus it's not something that WE need to figure out... Secondly, something HUGE just happened in the ring, and we shouldbe talking about that! Stephen Rawlings, one of the most accomplished individuals in LEGACY history, just joined The Entourage, which gives him some serious backup which I think is going to help propel him back up to the World Title. Jimmy Yates: There's a lot more talent on the roster now than there was back when Rawlings first held that belt, so don't start crowning him just yet. He's talented, there's no denying that, but there's plenty of guys he's going to have to go through before he finds himself back in position for the World Title. Alan Ducard: His odds are better as of tonight now that he has the Entourage behind him, but you'd have to think that Stephen Rawlings might have to deal with Cronos Diamante again before too long, especially given how things just ended a few minutes ago.
Our cameras take us backstage in the Target Center where we find ourselves in a locker room. Sitting on a wooden bench in front of a row of lockers is the challenger in tonight’s Tao of Valor championship match, Devastation. Clad in his ring garb for tonight he sits with his head down, eyes on the floor, for the moment. We move ever so closer to the man before stopping a few feet in front of him. It is at this point that he looks up at our camera for the first time. A second or two passes by in silence and then at last he begins to speak. Devastation: Tick, tock. Tick, tock. With each passing moment, we get closer and closer to tonight’s match Adam. And with every second that ticks away, your Tao of Valor title reign draws closer and closer to an end. So enjoy this time while you can. Cherish every second that you have left with that belt around your waist because soon, it’s all going to come crashing down. Devastation looks down very briefly from the camera in front of him. Within a second he glances back up at it and then begins to speak again. Devastation: Because you see Adam, this is my kind of match tonight. We’re heading into my playground, an iron man match. This isn’t barbaric garbage wrestling. This isn’t something where a fluke can happen. Tonight the better man will walk out of Minneapolis with the Tao of Valor championship around his waist. Tonight when all the smoke is cleared, you’re looking at the next Tao of Valor champion. Devastation stops there, continuing to look into the camera while we
slowly pull out from him.
On a completely blank, black screen, the words “Tao of Valor” appear, then fade out as we get subtle music in the background, consisting of a rolling bassline accompanied by a simple drum beat. As Devastation tries for the superplex, Bailey drills him with a right hand to the head, then a knee to the rib, which knocks Dev backwards, sending him off the top rope. Since Devastation remains on his feet, Ron Bailey steadies himself and dives forward, flipping over Devastation and going for the sunset flip… But Devastation grabs Ron’s legs… DECAPITATOR!!! Devastation reaches back, grabs Ron’s leg and goes for the pinfall… Flash to later in the weekend. Moving back to the middle of the ring, Derek Shane sets up the chair, then steps up on top of it. Reaching up, Derek Shane tries to reach the intersect point of the cables, but he’s easily 18 inches below it. Getting up on his tip-toes, Derek stretches as full as he can, trying… trying… Crowd: OOOOOHHHHH!!! Jimmy Yates: HUGE Spear by Adam Davis on a COMPLETELY unsuspecting Derek Shane!! We flash to later in that match. Bryan Harris: Start taking your pictures, folks, history is about to be made, a new champion is about to be crowned! Getting to the center, Adam swings one of his legs up onto the other cable, enabling him to just hold onto his cable with one arm. Reaching up, Adam Davis grabs the Tao of Valor championship down from its holder, then puts it over his shoulder, and then letting himself drop down to the mat, landing on his feet. Adam Davis: Look, Dev. You want that chance so bad? Fine. But I hope you know losing in that many title matches in a short time will look pretty nasty on that little resume you have in these parts. I do not back down from anyone. Not you, not Eli, not even the immortal Greyson Blade if push came to shove. I don't give a sh*t what those fans and wrestling insiders in these parts rate you in terms of greatness. I'm better. I will prove it. Flash to another piece of footage. Storm knees Davis in the head, and then proceeds to lift up The Champion and place him on the table over the ropes. Storm then crawls up the table and pulls Davis up, and he motions to the crowd to give it up for what he’s about to do. Bryan Harris: A running Ratings Boost wouldn’t do it, how about one from top turnbuckle height! Jimmy Yates: Here it comes … RATINGS… NO! As Eli flips, Davis scoops and catches Storm up into the fireman’s carry. The crowd screams as Davis leaps off the table, getting as much height as he can with Eli’s body over him, and at the apex of the leap, he spins Storm off …. Alan Ducard: COLD SHOULDER! COLD SHOULDER! DAVIS HITS IT! Jimmy Yates: FROM MORE THAN TOP ROPE HEIGHT! Later in the evening. Teetering X-Calibur back and forth... squinting from the sheer amount of pain going through his neck and spine from the onslaught of the World Champion... Devastation carefully slides X-Calibur down his back a bit, preparing for his patented version of the over-the-shoulder back-to-belly piledriver. Bryan Harris: Decapitator! Alan Ducard: That’s it! X-Calibur wriggles his feet though and before Devastation can hook his arm around X-Calibur’s neck, X pushes down on Devastation’s back, sliding upwards and back into the full-fledged see-saw position. Devastation tries to slide him back down again, but X-Calibur hooks his right hand around Devastation’s head. Pushing off of him, X-Calibur turns in mid-air while hooking the back of his head into a full three-quarter neck-lock, driving Devastation’s head harshly into the mat. Jimmy Yates: He sure did, but to give credit where credit is due, Devastation showed why he is a title contender. Every step of the way, he brought it to X-Calibur tonight and if he hadn’t been caught by a lucky knee earlier, I believe this one could’ve turned out a lot differently. Helping him to his feet, X-Calibur pats him on the back and nods his head, mouthing, “Good match.”. The fans decide applaud this, clapping both for the LEGACY World Champion and Devastation himself. Flash to a scene of Devastation and Adam Davis backstage. Devastation: Sorry, you know I’d love to take that title away from you. OPW was your own twisted little world, I wouldn't be so cocky when you get into my ring, the Legacy ring. Adam laughs a little bit, giving that big hearty sarcastic laugh, and then rolls his eyes while patting Devastation on his shoulder. Adam: Yeah, I have no doubt Dev. It's just too bad, I would have loved to make a point of you, especially after hearing all the bullsh*t about your technical ability night in and night out John Thomas goes to the top rope to go for the New School, but Adam Davis pulls him off the rope right into a fireman’s carry position, spins him, and connects with the COLD SHOULDER. The screen goes dark the words “Former World Champions” appear on the screen. Adam Davis, wearing his signature Iceman shirt. Devastation, a red and black flannel shirt, unbuttoned to reveal his signature shirt. An image of the Tao of Valor Championship belt fades in, then fades out. 30 Minutes. Most falls scored wins the match. An image of the “30” token appears on the screen and then fades out. One of these men will be one step closer to the ultimate prize in LEGACY while leaving with one of the hottest championships in the business. The other will have to go back to the drawing board and start rebuilding. Devastation vs Adam Davis 30 Minute Iron Man Match for the Tao of Valor Championship. Next.
Alan Ducard: Ladies and gentlemen, in our next match the Tao of Valor Championship will be on the line as Devastation takes on “The Iceman” Adam Davis, and this has the makings of an excellent match. Jimmy Yates: Adam Davis has been on a role defending his title since winning it at our last PPV event, and Devastation seems to have received a shot in the arm after his great performance albeit in a losing effort to X-Calibur in the latter’s first World Title defense. Bryan Harris: Devastation made the challenge to Adam Davis at our last Strife event, and Davis quickly accepted. We’ve heard about the past history, and we know Devastation wants to get back that win that Davis holds over him and take that Tao of Valor Championship for his own. Alan Ducard: Let’s send this over to Josephina, and we’ll
get this match under way. Jospehina Colbert: Ladies and gentlemen, our next match will be a thirty minute Ironman match for the LEGACY Tao of Valor Championship. The lights inside the Target Center cut to black as a roar goes up from the capacity crowd. The sound of a drumbeat permeates throughout the building before a spotlight shines down on the entrance as a familiar guitar riff blares through the arena. I AM IRON MAN! The guitar riff continues a few more times as all eyes come down on the entrance awaiting the man about to walk out. The music picks up and the crowd roars as Devastation walks out from behind the curtain. Josephina Colbert: Introducing first the challenger, hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, this is DEVASTATION! Devastation continues his slow walk to the ringside area with his head down. As he gets a few feet down Ozzy Osbourne begins to wail over the screaming crowd. Has he lost his mind? The challenger tonight is clad in black tights that come about halfway down his thigh. They have two thin blue lines down the outside of each leg. His kneepads are black with blue trim at the top and bottom. He wears black boots with blue kickpads overtop of them. His hands and palms are taped heavily in black and he wears a black long sleeved hooded jacket with the hood up, partially hiding his face with his head down like it is. Is he alive or dead? Devastation continues the long walk to the ring, walking around the side of the squared circle as he arrives at ringside. Slowly and with his head still down he walks up the ring steps and ducks in between the top and middle ropes as he enters the ring. He was turned to steel. He walks immediately to his corner where he takes a knee facing the turnbuckles. As he always does before any match he says a quick prayer before he stands back up to his feet once more. Nobody wants him. He removes his jacket and hands it over the top rope to a ring attendant. Then he turns back towards the entrance to the arena, bouncing slightly back and forth on the balls of his feet as he awaits the champion. Then, he and the rest of the arena are engulfed in blackness. Then in the midst of the darkness, bright white strobe lights appear around the frame of the entrance curtain and also at regular distances apart, starting at the edge of the stage and extending the entire length of the entrance walkway all the way to the ring. The opening to a well known industrial rock song begins blaring. "Everything's been said before. BOOM BOOM BOOM! Several bombastic pyros shoot up from the beginning of the entrance walkway, carrying clouds of distinct blue smoke behind them, causing the area to hardly be visible. "Babble babble bitch bitch Marilyn Manson's distinctive voice continues to speak the words, but the tone is building as the haze of blue smoke finally starts to dissipate. "Babble babble bitch bitch Just when the scream of the singer kicks in, a fist shoots up into the air in the middle of the fading smoke. Are you motherfuckers ready Manson screams the words as Davis lowers his hand, and keeps his head down. A spotlight follows him, showing his metallic dark blue boxing robe. The hoods keeps his face hidden as he walks across the walkway, straight to the ring with the music continuing to pump everywhere. Several flash bulbs flicker int he hazy background as the ToV title can only slight be seen under the extravagant robe. Josephina Colbert: Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, he is the Tao of Valor Champion. He is none other than the "Iceman"… ...Adam… Davis!!! The fans give a mixed reaction, some of his smarks try to cheer over the more prevalent reaction in the arena of boos and hisses. Davis doesn't mind either as he takes his time pacing the ring, before shooting his hood up just as his music dies down and motions to large gold belt around his waist. The lights return and both men step to the center of the ring for instructions from Jacob Fudrucker. Jimmy Yates: We have two of the best fighters in the world in that ring right now guys – this has to be a real treat for the LEGACY fans here in Minneapolis to see this live. Bryan Harris: The intensity in those gazes, each man staring the other down? Both have a point to prove here tonight. Alan Ducard: It looks like the official is done with his pre-match instructions, and away we go! 30:00 The bell sounds and both champion and challenger begin to circle each other in the middle of the ring, looking for an opening to attack. Finally, both set on an opening offensive strategy, they move to the center of the ring, and there’s a tie up, and Davis immediately uses his speed to transition to a headlock, waiting for Devastation to propel him off to the ropes. Devastation though surprises Davis, and uses his strength to take the champion up and over into a belly-to-back-like suplex. Alan Ducard: I think Davis was expecting to be sent to the ropes by Devastation, but the challenger changes course, and takes a quick advantage right out of the gate. Jimmy Yates: That was a key mistake by Adam Davis right out of the gate. Bryan Harris: Devastation is an excellent technical wrestler, but look for Adam Davis to rebound and catch Devastation off guard too with something unorthodox. Alan Ducard: Devastation after the suplex drops into the chinlock on the canvas to keep the champion grounded, which is an exceptionally intelligent move, considering the champion’s style and the length of the match. Jimmy Yates: The challenger has thirty minutes here to work, there’s no need to hit the immediate knock-out type blow. Bryan Harris: He may not need to hit it, but there’s something to be said for having that quick lead, taking a lot of the pressure off the fighter and take away perhaps some of the hesitancy to work his style of match. Devastation really works the chinlock, pulling around the jaw, and using his weight to wear on the champion. Davis reaches up for the head and tries grabbing for the head, but to no avail and Devastation keeps him grounded. The challenger wrenches with the hold as Davis struggles, reaching for the hair, but Devastation’s close cropped style doesn’t help him. Finally, Davis reaches up and rakes and digs his fingers into the eyes. Alan Ducard: Davis goes to the eyes and Devastation releases the hold, and that unorthodox, mixed style from Adam Davis shows through her in an escape. Jimmy Yates: Adam Davis has a technical game, but he has a submission game and brawling game as well. His time spent in OPW really helped him develop his overall fighting skill, and it’s utilization of those other areas that might lead him to victory over Devastation here. Bryan Harris: Devastation could be the best technical wrestler in the world, but in the T.o.V. division, it’s not entirely about technique. Upon his escape, Davis pushes to his knees and takes off to the ropes, and on the rebound he ducks a clothesline from Devastation, and as the challenger turns, the challenger delivers a wicked kick to the side of the ribs, and Devastation’s immediate response to the blow leaves him open to a stinging left hook. Alan Ducard: Adam Davis is going to that striking game, working inside Devastation’s reach now, Davis with the wicked chop to the chest, and he tries the Irish whip. Devastation with the reversal, and its Davis off to the ropes, and he goes airborn with a flying back elbow smash, and down goes the challenger! Jimmy Yates: The champion’s speed is working so far to nullify Devastation’s weight and strength advantage. Davis knows if Devastation can use that power to take him down, he may never be able to get back to his feet with Devastation’s excellent mat wrestling abilities. Bryan Harris: Adam Davis is no slouch in the “mat wrestling” department either Jimbo – Devastation is arguably the best in the business, but Adam Davis is easily makes that top list. Alan Ducard: Adam Davis followed up that back elbow with a quick leg drop to stun Devastation, and now he’s waiting for Devastation to try and get to his feet, and Davis with the running soccer-style kick to the back of the head! Dear-god what an impact! Davis goes for the quick cover! ONE TWO-Kickout! Jimmy Yates: It might be a little surprising to see a two-count this early in the match, but Davis just caught Devastation dead on with that kick to the back of the skull/top of the neck. The question is now what is Davis going to do with the advantage? Bryan Harris: It looks as if Davis is going for the leg, and he drops with the elbow across the leg, around the knee, and there’s another, and another. Alan Ducard: He’s going to work on that knee, presumably to take Devastation’s base from him to nullify that size advantage and to slow him down even further. Jimmy Yates: Davis now twisting, looking for a figure-fo-no! Devastation kicks him off and towards the buckles. Devastation has to find a way to get free and regroup. Devastation rapidly rolls up to his knees, smartly keeping the targeted limb away from Davis, but he has little time to regroup as the champion moves up the turnbuckles, and leaps off the buckles with the “Blockbuster” style-flipping neckbreaker, planting Devastation into the canvas. Alan Ducard: High-impact move from the champion, and now Davis goes for his second cover of the contest. ONE TWO T-kickout! Devastation gets the shoulders off the canvas, and we’re still without a pinfall in this thirty-minute ironman match for the T.o.V. Title. Jimmy Yates: Adam Davis already going to the top, taking some risks here in the early going, and it has Devastation in a bad way, but it hasn’t picked him up a fall just yet. Bryan Harris: Taking risks in the ring and out was mentioned in the champion’s promotional work this week, and how this match really was a contrast in ring-mentality and personality. Alan Ducard: It certainly is Bryan, and The Iceman’s style is paying dividends but Devastation’s patience may yield him the opening he needs to come back in this match. Adam Davis didn’t let up after the neckbreaker, and he went right back to the knee with a stomp, and then grabbing the leg, pushing himself in the air, and then driving his own knees down into Devastation’s leg. Davis then drops another elbow on the leg, before grabbing the leg and again trying to wrap Devastation up into a submission hold, but Devastation boots him off again. Alan Ducard: Devastation is fighting to keep out of those leg holds, and he’s to the ropes. Here comes Davis in with a kick to the thigh, a punch to the head, and another kick to the knee. Devastation staggering out from the ropes, and Davis off the ropes with the bulldog! Devastation goes down face first into the canvas, and now Davis is feeling it here! Davis stalking Devastation, moving in on the challenger up into the fireman’s carry, but he didn’t have him enough and Devastation goes down the back! Devastation wrapping the waist and a release German suplex! Jimmy Yates: He dropped Davis right on his neck, and that is the opening Devastation needed. Both men are down, and Devastation is putting some distance between himself and Davis. Bryan Harris: Every match has turning points Jimbo, and this could be one of them. Can Devastation get his bearing to go on the offensive before Davis can go right back on his unrelenting assault. Alan Ducard: Devastation is getting to his feet, treating that leg with care, and Davis is getting up to his feet, holding his neck from the German suplex. Davis is looking to go back on the assault, and he meet Devastation with a right hand, and he goes for a kick and Devastation catches, pulls him in, and there’s a beautiful capture suplex! Jimmy Yates: An amazing reversal from the challenger, and now Devastation is the one in the driver’s seat in this contest. Devastation pulling Davis to his feet, and there’s a big chop, and another, and a third driving Davis back into the buckles. Devastation with a kick, a hook, and there’s a T-bone suplex out of the corner, and now we’re closing in on twenty minutes left in this back-and-forth contest! Bryan Harris: No falls yet, and the pressure is still on both fighters here, the longer this goes, the more that first fall is really going to matter in the overall context of this match. After the T-bone suplex, Devastation pulls Davis to his feet, and drives a knee into Adam’s sternum before hooking him and taking him up and over with the side suplex, dropping Davis right in the center of the ring. Jimmy Yates: Look at the mastery of the ring Devastation is showing. Davis ended up in the corners from the attack, but Devastation goes to his arsenal to find a move that brings The Iceman right back to the center of the ring. Bryan Harris: You can criticize Devastation’s work out of the ring, and even criticize his less-risk taking style in the ring, but he is a master ring general, and fundamentally as sound as anyone stepping in the ring. Davis is now dead center and he has to be worried about a possible submission attack from Devastation. Alan Ducard: Devastation now pulling Adam Davis to his feet, and it doesn’t look like a submission hold is coming, as Devastation catches him with a stiff European uppercut, a kick to the midsection, and Davis is transitioned into a standing headscissors. Devastation lifts for the piledriver, but Adam Davis fights out and backdrops Devastation, and goes down into a bridging pin! ONE TWO-NO! Devastation is pressing up and out with a bridge! Jimmy Yates: Devastation is up and hooks Adam’s arms! Alan Ducard: BACKSLIDE PIN! ONE TWO THRE-NO! Davis shifts his weight and rolls out of the pin! Davis is up first on the roll out, and charges, drop toe hold by Devastation, transitioning into a Crossface! Devastation has Davis in the cross face! 20:00 Jimmy Yates: We’re down to twenty minutes remaining in the match, and Devastation has Adam Davis dead center in the middle of that ring. Bryan Harris: Devastation knows where he is at all times, and now Adam Davis is right where Devastation wants him to be. Alan Ducard: Devastation is torquing and wrenching that neck back, and even if Adam Davis doesn’t tap out here, this is really softening up the champion for the Decapitator. The crowd, while not quiet for the contest, really comes alive during the submission hold, and the alliances seem to be rather as Adam Davis noted in his promotional work with a portion of the crowd rallying behind the old-school, blue-collar, stalwart Devastation, and the other portion rallying behind the cockier, flashier, riskier Adam Davis. As Devastation clamps down the hold, a “Dev-a-sta-tion” chant from the larger portion of the crowd goes up in contrast to the “Let’s Go Davis” chant from the smaller but very vocal fan population. Alan Ducard: Jacob Fudrucker is down, checking for the submission, but Adam Davis will not yield, and it seems we’re going to see how well the champion’s mat wrestling can keep up with the challenger’s style. Davis now attempting to get his leg up underneath, and Devastation is trying to shift his weight to prevent the movement, and now Davis flips and rolls, but Devastation rolls through back into the cross face! Jimmy Yates: Adam Davis couldn’t escape but … wait! The roll was just enough to get The Iceman’s foot under the ropes! Devastation has to break the submission hold! Bryan Harris: The Iceman gambled and it paid off here. Working against the weight of that nearly 290-pounder to reverse can take a lot out of you, and had he not reached the ropes, he may have had to tap out. Jimmy Yates: The crowd is on edge now, wondering how Davis might be able to come back from all of that time in the cross face. Devastation pulls Adam to his feet, and into a front face lock, and he just wraps it on tight, controlling the smaller man. Such a simple move and be so effective with Devastation’s knowledge and size. Alan Ducard: Devastation now pulling Davis to the center of the ring in the front facelock, and he knees Davis twice, transitions him to the double underhook, and suplexes him up and over! Devastation quickly pouncing on Davis now, pulling him up into that inverted fireman’s carry, and he hits THE DEVASTATION DRIVER! He just spun Davis out into that piledriver, jamming that head and neck, and Devastation makes the cover! ONE TWO THRE-NO! Davis just barely gets the shoulder up, and even the normally unflappable Devastation appears just a bit surprised at the kick out. Jimmy Yates: I can’t blame him Alan – think about the punishment that Devastation has dished out over the past few minutes – consistently targeting that neck? That series of maneuvers would have finished many of the top superstars in this business. Bryan Harris: Adam Davis is tougher than many people would give him credit for – they see an arrogant guy with a lot of athletic ability, but they forget about the time he spent in OPW and how that really seasoned him, especially in his ability to handle pain and abuse in that ring. Devastation pulls a wobbly Davis up to his feet, controlling him about that weakened neck. He uses a big forearm strike down on the back of the neck, before going low, putting himself in a standing headscissors, and lifting up, putting Adam in position for … Alan Ducard: He has Davis up for the Decapitator! He’s going to drop him right on his head, and he’s moving to the center of the ring to do it, DECAPI-NO! Davis rolls down the back, and he FLIPS DEVASTATION OVER INTO THE SIT OUT PIN! ONE TWO THR-NO! SHOULDER UP! Adam Davis up hooking the legs and … HE FLIPS OVER INTO THE JACKKNIFE PIN! ONE TWO THRE-NO! DEVASTATION KICKS OUT! Jimmy Yates: Listen to these fans Alan, they love the back and forth here, and Adam Davis trying to get back into this match, and he almost drew first blood in spite of Devastation’s attacks. Bryan Harris: We’re at another critical point in this match, and a pinfall here by Davis could really be a psychological blow to Devastation who really had complete control of the contest. After the kickout, Davis was the first to his feet, and he charged inside on Devastation before he could get up his guard and hits an elbow to the jaw, and then a kick down on the knee, dropping Devastation into position for an elbow to the back of the head and allowing Davis to hook the head and leg. Alan Ducard: Adam Davis has that injured leg hooked and surprising power by Davis as he takes Devastation up and over with the fisherman’s suplex … and he holds for the pin! ONE TWO THRE-NO! Devastation kicks out, and these rapid fire pin attempts from Davis have to be wearing on the challenger. Jimmy Yates: Davis has picked up the intensity over the past few minutes, and I think he’s really feeling the need as the champion to try and get the first fall here – the pressure is picking up on him. Bryan Harris: I think he has to try and go back to that leg he was working on earlier – I think that’s going to be the key. Alan Ducard: Davis is doing exactly that Bryan, as he now grabs the leg and drives another elbow down into the leg, and now Devastation tries to pull the leg back in away from Davis, so Davis leaps and now begins a big mounting punch attack on Devastation! Here come the fists and elbows, and a surprised Devastation tries to cover up! Davis has reigned down at least three hard shots to the head, face before Devastation could get that guard back up. Davis continues to pound away, driving rapid punch after punch down on to the challenger. Devastation works steadily absorbing the blows, but fighting to get a block and push Davis backwards, and as the fans roar with each blow by Davis, it finally happens. The block, the push, and both men fall into the sit-out pin position which really doesn’t get a count from the official, as Davis continues to roll through – and he charges back through with a kick to Devastation’s face. Alan Ducard: Davis is still in control of the match even after the Devastation escape, and now Davis pulling Devastation to a vertical base. Davis with the chop, but Devastation fires back with a chop of his own. Davis with a chop, and Devastation with a chop … back and forth we go with this chop battle, and now Devastation with a kick of his own, and there’s the Irish whip to the buckles. Devastation moving in and Davis with the drop toe hold, sending Devastation face first into the turnbuckles. Jimmy Yates: Davis now moving in on Devastation and he stomps a foot down on Devastation’s head in the corner against that buckle, and the official now in position to administer that five count, and Davis breaks at four, not wanting to yield a fall to the challenger. Bryan Harris: You can’t push an official in a match like this – disqualifications and count outs are just as important as pinfalls and submissions in this context. This is one of the few matches where a title could literally change hands on a count out or disqualification. Davis breaks the hold, and lays the boots to Devastation with a series of kicks, before moving up the buckles, and pulling Devastation up in the corner, hooking him. Alan Ducard: Adam Davis has control of Devastation in the corner as we close in on the 10:00 minute mark of the match. Davis now with Devastation in the corner, and he leaps off looking for that tornado DDT-NO! Devastation blocks and Davis lands on his feet! Devastation immediately scoops and …. DECAPITATOR! HE DROPS DAVIS DEAD CENTER OF THE RING! THE COVER … ONE TWO THREE! The bell rings and Josephina is on the mic .. Josephina Colbert: Ladies and gentlemen the first fall goes to Devastation! The fall count is now 1 fall to 0 in favor of Devastation. Jimmy Yates: That’s a huge first fall for the challenger, and he now has Davis back on his heels in his position in the match. Alan Ducard: Jacob Fudrucker has signaled that the next fall can begin and Devastation is all over Davis going for that immediate pin! ONE TWO THRE-NO! There wasn’t much time between falls and Devastation almost picked up a second fall from the Decapitator. Jimmy Yates: That second fall could have been HUGE, and Devastation knows it! Bryan Harris: He has to stay on Davis now, not let him regain his footing in the match. Devastation pulls Davis up to his feet and sends him off on the Irish whip, and fires up a roundhouse kick to the jaw on Adam’s return, dropping him to his rear on the impact, and Devastation immediately pulls him up once more and sends him to the buckles, and Davis hits front first and staggers back to the challenger who wraps him and takes him up and over with the German suplex, but on the release, Davis shifts and continues to flip … Alan Ducard: Adam Davis lands on his feet! He lands on his feet out of the suplex, and there’s a chop block! He just drove that shoulder into the knee and the leg and Devastation is down! The challenger is down, and that knee and leg are in some serious trouble. Jimmy Yates: Adam Davis got that impact move he needed on that leg, and now he’s dragging Devastation to the corner, and Davis goes to the turnbuckles, and he has Devastation’s leg as he goes to the second buckle … Alan Ducard: An elbow drop from the second rope down on to that leg from Davis has Devastation in some serious agony, and here is the champion’s opening. Davis with another stomp to the leg, and now he’s sliding out of the ring, and he slams the knee into the post! Jimmy Yates: Wow, the Devastation fans in the crowd to NOT like that tactic, but the Davis and say some of the more No Limits leaning fans are liking this more, brawling side of Davis. Bryan Harris: He’s not going to completely match technique with Devastation, so he needs to bring in some of those other elements, a few of those surprises. Alan Ducard: Davis again slams that leg into the post, and he’s getting admonished from Jacob Fudrucker about his tactics, and he’s getting the count put on him too! Jimmy Yates: Davis abuses the leg on the post again, and now he’s climbing back inside the ring to beat the count. Bryan Harris: He’s using all of the tools at his disposal, he’s determined to walk out of here the Tao of Valor Champion! Alan Ducard: Devastation is pulling himself up on the ropes, and Davis grabs the leg and tosses Devastation down with a dragon-screw leg whip, and he holds on to the leg, and he spins into a … HEEL HOOK! DEVASTATION IS IN AGONY, AND HE’S PUSHING DESPARATELY TO THE ROPES! Jimmy Yates: That submission hold could ripe a knee to shreds, and Devastation doesn’t want that to happen here, and he just might have to tap to get out of the hold to save his knee. He’s pulling for all he’s got, dragging Davis with him to the ropes – and that 6’8 height might just pay off. Bryan Harris: He needs to tap out and go for the tie here and save that leg – don’t be stupid. The fans are screaming as Devastation is almost to the ropes, the leg lock causing unbelievable agony, and were it not for the fact that he had made it this close to the ropes he may have considered giving up. As the “Let’s Go Davis” – “Dev-a-sta-tion” dueling chants go up, he lunges out and grabs for the ropes. Jimmy Yates: He’s reaching! He’s reaching for the ropes and … Devastation has the ropes, and the hold must be broken! Alan Ducard: It does, but Davis is using that five count to his advantage and he finally breaks the hold when he as to and separates. Davis is now stalking Devastation, who is still down clutching at his knee. Davis goes in after him again, but Devastation kicks at Davis with his good leg and catches him in the jaw, knocking him back. The challenger now pulling himself up, using the ropes, and … DAVIS IS UP AND SCOOPS HIM …. COLD SHOULDER! HE SPINS HIM OFF INTO THAT ACECRUSHER VARIANT AND DROPS THE CHALLENGER! ONE TWO THREE! The bell sounds for the fall as Jacob signals the three count, and once against Josephina Colbert comes on the mic. Josephina Colbert: Ladies and gentlemen the second fall goes to "The Iceman" Adam Davis!!! The fall count is now even at 1 fall each. Bryan Harris: That was a big fall for Adam Davis, evening the score and putting Devastation in a world of hurt in the process. Jimmy Yates: Devastation isn’t in a good way, but did either of you guys catch Adam Davis grasping at his arm as he came up from that Cold Shoulder – it looked like he may have tweaked that arm/shoulder area in hitting that move. Alan Ducard: I did notice that Jimmy, and we’ll have to keep an eye on that as John Thomas targeted that area quite heavily in The Iceman’s victory over Thomas in the champion’s last title defense. Bryan Harris: It must have happened in the effort to spin 285-290 pounds out of that fireman’s carry and into the crusher. Davis is a strong guy, but that kind of effort can re-aggravate an injury. Davis, having hit the Cold Shoulder, rolls back over to Devastation to go for another pin attempt, but can’t hook the legs. Alan Ducard: A follow up pin from Davis! ONE TWO TH-NO! Devastation kicks out, and obviously the lack of a leg hook hurt him there. Davis now shaking out the arm, and he hits the ropes and on the rebound he leaps and driving a knee into Devastation’s temple as he tries to stand, and there’s another pin fall from the knee strike! ONE TWO THREE-NO! Jimmy Yates: That leg is bothering Devastation, and I have to think if Davis didn’t use that weakened arm to hook the injured leg, he may have picked up the fall there. Bryan Harris: Missed opportunities are going to happen Jimbo - both men have missed opportunities in this match, and they might come back to haunt one of these men as we near the end of this match up. Alan Ducard: The end is near for both fighters as the clock slips under 5 minutes remaining, and Adam Davis pulls Devastation to his feet, and there’s a palm strike to the jaw, and a kick to the ribs. Davis goes for another kick and Devastation catches the foot! Davis flips through for the Enziguri but Devastation ducks! Devastation pulls Davis up into the waist lock, but Davis reverses the waistlock and rushes the ropes, but Devastation grabs them and prevents the roll-up pin off the ropes! Davis rolls back to his feet, and here comes Devastation! Davis ducks the clothesline, and delivers a dropkick to the head, but he didn’t get him solidly, and Devastation staggers backwards. Davis now quickly passes the wild swing from Devastation, and flips around for a jump-swing DDT! It connects! Jimmy Yates: This is a big opportunity for Davis here guys, Devastation is reeling, and he needs to put him away – the clock is ticking. Bryan Harris: It’s ticking for both of them, Jimbo, and I expect both men to really “go for broke in the last few minutes”. Following the DDT, Davis pulls Devastation up, and hits the ropes, and hits a Jericho-style face crusher on Devastation, and then moves in behind him, and picks the leg, looking for a kneebar! Alan Ducard: Adam Davis is looking for a kneebar on the challenger to put this match away! He’s got the leg wrapped, but there’s a kick to the face with the other leg, and Devastation straightens out and hits another boot to the face breaking free! Devastation lunges and … CRUCIFIX ARMBAR! He’s got that juji-gatame on Davis, and on that arm targeted by John Thomas! Jimmy Yates: He must have noticed it even while recovering from The Cold Shoulder. Bryan Harris: Or he’s taking an open opportunity for that move in general! Alan Ducard: Devastation knows how effect this move can be, and how Adam Davis countered this hold last time they met in an OPW ring. Bryan Harris: He bit Devastation – and I don’t blame him – you have to do what you have to do to win the match. Adam Davis writhes on the canvas in agony as Devastation hyperextends the elbow, and he fights for positioning to try and relieve the pain, and as the seconds tick away, he moves his feet and he begins to bridge up out of Devastation’s legs with an amazing display of flexibility and strength. As he bridges he shifts is elbow and … Alan Ducard: THE ROLL-UP BY DAVIS! ONE TWO THRE-NO!-DEVASTATION JUST GETS THE SHOULDER UP! Jimmy Yates: The damage may have been done though Alan, look at Davis clutching at that arm! Davis clutches the arm as both fighters center each other again, and Devastation takes a shot at Adam’s head with the forearm shot, and Davis responds with a stomping-kick to the knee, and both men move apart from each other, only for them to come together again as the two minute warning sounds. Alan Ducard: TWO MINUTES LEFT! The time is ticking as Davis goes low for the legs, but Devastation falls back to the ropes! Devastation with the axehandle slam down on The Iceman’s back, and he pulls him into a standing headscissors, and a heave for a powerbomb! NO! WHAT A REVERSAL BY DAVIS! MANAMI ROLL! 1:35 Davis flips through the Manami roll transitioning from the powerbomb into a “widow’s peak” position, but then continues to flip out into a sit-out style pin! Alan Ducard: THE PINNING ATTEMPT! ONE TWO THREE-NO! Devastation gets the shoulder up, and Devastation is up first and there’s a shoulderblock from Devastation on that arm! Devastation stalks for a moment and then moves in on Davis, and Davis sweeps the leg and both men are down! Jimmy Yates: The fans are going crazy here because in all likelihood the next fall could be the last! What if there’s a tie? Do we go to sudden death? Bryan Harris: I’m sure the fans would want to see it, and we’re down to a minute left here! Both men gingerly get to their feet, nursing their wounds. Davis is up first, but Devastation strikes first with his reach … Alan Ducard: Devastation with hook to the jaw... he steps in and … HE HAS DAVIS UP ON HIS SHOULDER!! HE'S LOOKING FOR THE DECAPITATOR … NO! HIS KNEE BUCKLES! 20 Seconds! DAVIS IS DOWN AT THE SIDE… HE HAS DEVASTATION UP ON HIS SHOULDERS... COLD SHOULDERRRR – NO! 10 Seconds! HE’S FIGHTING BUT HE CAN’T KEEP DEVASTATION UP AND DEVASTATION GOES DOWN … GANNOSUKE CLUTCH! HE HAS DAVIS IN THE PIN … ONE TWO THREE! HE’S DONE IT! Josephina Colbert: Ladies and Gentlemen, the winner of the match and NEWWWWWWWW! Tao of Valor Champion … DEVASTATION!!! Jimmy Yates: What a finish! What a move out of nowhere from Devastation to pick up the victory! I don’t think I’ve seen that ever here in LEGACY. Bryan Harris: Those years and years of training for Devastation, and that time paid off in this match where maybe, he found a physical equal in Adam Davis – if not technical equal. Alan Ducard: Devastation now with the ToV Title courtesy of Jacob Fudrucker, and Adam Davis is in the corner now shaking his head. He wrestled a HELL of a match, and frankly had he hit the Cold Shoulder this one was over, but it wasn’t the Cold Shoulder or Decapitator that won this, but … show that clutch again. A quick replay is shown on the screen showing Devastation dropping from the Iceman’s shoulder, and then hooking the injured arm, spinning to the back, sweeping the leg, and rolling through into a pin, pushing Adam’s legs up into a sit-out pin type position, but locking his injured arm underneath him. Jimmy Yates: That was a hell of a move Alan, and if that level of technique in the perfect moment of technique is what it took to outlast Davis tonight, I can’t wait to see if there will be a rematch. |
