The LEGACY Tour logo shows up on a black screen and it fades out as "SuperNova Goes Pop" by Powerman 5000 starts to play, and the Elevated Tensions logo appears on the screen. The camera pans downwards to show Bryan Harris, Alan Ducard, and Jimmy Yates all seated behind a desk from the recap position. They're not as dressed up as you might expect them to be on Sunday night, but since this is the pre-show, formal attire is not required. Jimmy Yates: Welcome everybody to the official kick-off of the ELEVATED TENSIONS pay per view weekend. If you're new to our organization and just tuning in for the first time, LEGACY has a big pay per view coming up on Sunday evening, and because there's not enough time on Sunday night to give an opportunity for the entire roster to be involved in a match one way or another, we do this internet pre-show to feature some of the talent who didn't quite get a chance to make it onto the line-up. Alan Ducard: The three matches we have for you all to watch this evening will be presented in recap format, just as we do on our bi-weekly STRIFE shows, but I assure you, even though you're only getting to watch the last half of each of the matches, you won't feel as though you are missing out on any action, because there's plenty of it yet to come here tonight. SUNDAY'S LINEUP
Bryan Harris: There will be plenty of time for us to talk about the three matches on tonight's card as they come along, but let me lay it out for everybody without any sugar coating on it. The real purpose of this show here tonight is to remind people that we've got a pay per view coming up on Sunday and to do our best to give you reasons to go ahead and order it. We'll have a few matches for you here tonight, and that action will be good, but the real reason behind it is to say "hey, you like these matches? Good, we're glad. Order the pay per view and there's plenty more where that came from, and we're betting those matches will be better than what you saw for free". Jimmy Yates: You're absolutely right, that's the basic idea, Bryan. Looking at tonight's card, I do expect it to be a good show, but knowing the individuals who are going to be competing on Sunday night, as well as knowing the reasons why they're stepping into the ring for their respective matches, I'm expecting that show to be even better. Alan Ducard: And let's not forget, the three men who win their matches here tonight will also be fighting on the pay per view, earning spots in the Opportunity Ladder Match scheduled for the pay per view. Bryan Harris: We've got a couple minutes, let's talk about the matches yet to come on Sunday night. Let's tell the people why we think they should pay for ELEVATED TENSIONS. Alan Ducard: Well right out of the gate, for any of you individuals who enjoy matches which could see a fighter very badly injured, LEGACY is going to be airing an Unsanctioned Warehouse Match between Chris Turner and Damien Black as part of the broadcast. On the video monitors above our announce trio's heads, we see Chris Turner standing face to face with Damien Black. Behind Chris Turner is his manager Orlando, and behind Damien Black is Rev. Ezekiel Caine. In the background there is an old building, above which it says "Unsanctioned Warehouse Match". Jimmy Yates: Those two have an unbelievable amount of hatred for one another dating back a few years, only to surface again this time in LEGACY back at the DESTINED FOR GREATNESS pay per view event a couple months ago. At that time Chris Turner was wrestling underneath the masked disguise of Gigantus Awesomo, and Damien Black was healing up from some serious injuries during most of the time in which Awesomo had been competing here. Something somehow tipped off Damien Black that Chris Turner was the man under the mask, and I think that just accelerated his recovery, wanting to get into the ring with a man against whom he had fought some fairly serious battles in years past. Bryan Harris: And here they both are now in LEGACY, about to square off for the second time. After their match at DESTINED FOR GREATNESS, the LEGACY Front Office decided that since neither man would stop gunning for the other as long as they both were living, the only thing they could do to ensure that neither one of them died in a LEGACY ring was to say they couldn't get into a physical altercation with one another for at least a few months... though that didn't stop them and Chris Turner got himself suspended. Jimmy Yates: Certainly not one to back down, Damien Black accepted the invitation by Chris Turner for this Warehouse Match, and although LEGACY has agreed to make the brutal encounter part of its pay per view broadcast, it is an unsanctioned match, and if one or both of these men get seriously injured in the events which will transpire in the warehouse, not only will LEGACY not have to pay their medical benefits, but either one or both of those two men might find themselves released from their LEGACY contract. Alan Ducard: For any parents of young children who are thinking about ordering this event for your son or daughter, you might want to make sure that they get a snack or use the rest room when Damien Black and Chris Turner are on the tube, because it won't be for the faint of heart. Bryan Harris: The violence in that match is going to be tough for some people to watch, but the outcome of the match between Jake Dominion and Diego de Cardeñas is going to be even harder for a lot of people to take. The image on the video monitors changes to a shot of Jake Dominion on one side and Diego de Cardeñas on the other, with Hannah Perez standing beside the former No Limits Champion. At the top of the screen it says "Dominion v Cardeñas" Bryan Harris: Jake Dominion has been a golden boy around LEGACY since he showed up, and everybody is just hoping to see him take home the World Title, but when Diego de Cardeñas beats Jake Dominion tonight, that'll be the last time anyone considers Jake Dominion a serious contender for a while... possibly forever. Jimmy Yates: Well even though Diego de Cardeñas has a fairly good track record on pay per view and has been gaining a considerable amount of momentum lately, I'd have to put my money on Jake Dominion in this match. Alan Ducard: Whoever wins this match does have a considerable claim to an upcoming title shot against whoever walks out of the main event with the World Title. Another match with serious title shot ramifications is the Opportunity Ladder Match, by which the winner will get to decide whether he wants a shot at the No Limits Title or the Tao of Valor Championship. The image now changes to a slightly crowded one. In the front we see Greyson Blade, Mirage, and Greg Allocca. Behind them we see John Iley, Crazy Boy, and Eli Storm. Behind them we see Lucien Gray, Alex Harmston, Percy Wright, Ron Bailey, Katsuro Yoshida, Kevin Oppenheimer and Hector Rodriguez. All around the group there are ladders, and at the top of the screen it says "Opportunity Ladder Match". Bryan Harris: And there's plenty of talent in this match. Each of the three winners from tonight's matches gets to compete in the Opportunity Ladder Match, but they're not even the ones considered the favorites to win this match. Jimmy Yates: The favorite to win the Opportunity Ladder Match is obviously former LEGACY World Champion Greyson Blade, but there are plenty of people going into that ring with The Outlaw who could very easily get to the top of the ladder first. Alan Ducard: After his performance on STRIFE 29 against X-Calibur, high flyer Greg Allocca has a lot of people thinking he's going to be earning himself another shot here tonight by bringing down the contract from high above the ring. Bryan Harris: No matter what the type of match is, you have to keep your eyes on Mirage, a crafty veteran who, year after year, finds ways to win matches, so anyone who doubts Mirage's ability to win the Opportunity Ladder Match runs the risk of getting beaten down by a guy who is a former World Champion and could very easily become champion again in the future. Jimmy Yates: After a rough start here in LEGACY, Eli Storm has been kicking it up a bit, and with his athleticism, this could be the huge break he needs. Alan Ducard: Great things about matches like these are that they're so hard to predict. The guys we've already mentioned might be considered the favorites, but certainly Crazy Boy or my fellow countryman John Iley could just as easily earn themself a title shot. Bryan Harris: Yeah, yeah, whatever. Bottomline: people like ladder matches, and with nine guys going to be involved, this one's gonna be crazy. The screen changes now and there are now only two individuals on the screen. Stephen Rawlings takes up the left half, Devastation on the right. Atop the screen it now reads "Rawlings v Devastation". Alan Ducard: For the technical wrestling enthusiasts out there, the match between Devastation and Stephen Rawlings is sure to excite. Jimmy Yates: Both of them have made their names on being exceptionally skilled at technical wrestling. The image on the screen changes and we see Cronos Diamante on one side of the screen with Voodoo behind him, and on the other side of the screen we see Issac Entragian, with Liz Gaunt standing beside him holding his title belt. Atop the screen it reads "No Limits Championship". Bryan Harris: On the exact opposite end of the scale, people who love a great hardcore matches are going to want to tune in to see Cronos Diamante vs Issac Entragian with the No Limits Title on the line. Alan Ducard: When Cronos Diamante won this opportunity to fight for the No Limits Championship, there were plenty of detractors who felt as though his "Honor Above All" slogan would not lend itself well to his odds of bringing home the gold. Since then, however, there has been a marked change in Cronos' demeanor, and most of those detractors have changed their opinions, and now the odds on this match appear to be even. Jimmy Yates: Issac Entragian has seemed unstoppable since he took the belt from Diego de Cardeñas, so it's not going to be an easy task for anyone to take the belt from him, and I'm betting that he retains. The image on the screen changes again and we now see a smirking John Thomas on one side of the screen, and on the other we see a very serious and determined X-Calibur with his championship belt over his shoulder with one token affixed to either side of the faceplate, one reading "X", the other reading "30". At the top of the screen it reads "Tao of Valor Championship", and at the bottom it reads "Last Man Standing". Bryan Harris: If one championship belt is going to change hands at ELEVATED TENSIONS, my money would be on John Thomas taking the Tao of Valor Championship from X-Calibur. Alan Ducard: Because this title shot is a Last Man Standing Match, many people feel that it significantly favors X-Calibur, who made his reputation over the past few years on being able to win this exact type of match. Bryan Harris: Don't forget one thing, though. John Thomas has learned how to manipulate things to his advantage from some of the best this business has to offer - from Gryffin Anselm to Loco Martinez - and going into this match, that's exactly what he's done. Jimmy Yates: You make a good point. John Thomas has managed to keep himself out of active competition for the past few shows, meanwhile X-Calibur has been wrestling at a gruling pace. The image on the monitors now changes and we see Gryffin Anselm and James Win in the middle of the screen, Anselm with his World Tag Team Championship belt over his shoulder, The All Star wearing his around his waist. To their left is the Canuckin' Cowboys, with Calgary Carl standing between Jerry Starr and Allen Franks. On the other side of the Diabolik is Domination, with Trent Logan standing in front of "RAGE" Ben Murdock and "VENOM" Steve O'Reily. Atop the screen it now reads "World Tag Team Championship". Alan Ducard: The third championship match of the evening is the World Tag Team Championship triple threat match where The Diabolik are looking to extend their reign with the belts to the one year mark, having just reached a length of 300 days not long ago. Bryan Harris: These belts are without a doubt the most coveted tag team titles in the business today, and there's nothing about either Domination or the Canuckin' Cowboys that gives me any reason to think that they're going to be able to dethrone Gryffin Anselm and "The All Star" James Win. The Diabolik have already beaten both of those teams in prior title defenses. Jimmy Yates: First off, a lot of people believe that Domination would have won the World Tag Titles at DESTINED FOR GREATNESS if it weren't for the tainted water bottle Ron Bailey provided them with. Secondly, the Canuckin' Cowboys looked decent in their World Tag Title shot. Alan Ducard: With it being a triple threat match where the person who scores the first pinfall taking home the World Tag Team Championships, that increases the odds of both of the challenger teams competing. Jimmy Yates: Whether the World Tag Team Championship belts remain with The Diabolik, or if they end up with Domination or The Canuckin' Cowboys, this should prove to be a very interesting match. The screen changes for a final time and we now see Ray Willmott, Justin Moreno (with Allison Moreno standing very close to him), Crash, and Loco Martinez (flanked by the tag team known as Anarchy who are guarding a trophy case which holds Loco's prized possessions, including the World Championship). Atop the screen it says "World Championship". Alan Ducard: And that leaves us with just one match, and even if it were not for all the other matches on the card, the World Championship Main Event should deliver plenty of excitement at the end of the evening. Bryan Harris: It all started with a simple premise: The front office wanted to make sure that someone new got a shot at the World Title at ELEVATED TENSIONS, and they set up a small tournament to determine who would be the number one contender going into the event. Jimmy Yates: Ray Willmott was the man who won that tournament, earning him his spot in this match, but on the same card as the tournament finals, we also saw Loco Martinez win a title defense against Jake Dominion in which we saw some distraction by Crash as Diego de Cardenas ran in and basically handed the win to Loco Martinez. Alan Ducard: Because of how that match ended, the match between Diego de Cardenas and Jake Dominion was set up for Sunday's event, and Crash was added to the World Title Match to punish Loco Martinez and kill any chance of future collusion between the two. Bryan Harris: And for some idiotic reason the front office decided that just because Justin Moreno has beef with Crash that Moron-O should be added to the match too. Jimmy Yates: I consider that to be a smart decision on their part. It was obvious that Justin Moreno and Crash needed to get into the ring with one another, and this allows that to happen without any extra waiting. Alan Ducard: Well due to an attack by The Diabolik proper on Justin Moreno at the tail end of STRIFE 29 event, the young man from Huntington Beach California sustained injuries which may keep him out of the World Title Match at our pay per view on Sunday. Bryan Harris: With or without the kid in there, the World Title Match is going to be exciting, but mark my words, Loco Martinez is going to walk out of that ring with the World Title still with him, despite the fact that the odds have been so unfairly stacked against him. Jimmy Yates: That's the entire lineup for Sunday night's ELEVATED TENSIONS, and if that's not enough reason to buy the pay per view... well then you can consider yourself wrestling's version of a Christmas Scrooge. Sitting at his desk and looking at a stack of folders in front of him, Landon Savage has a worried look on his face. He picks up one of the folders, looks at it for a second, flipping through and glancing at the sheets of papers inside before setting it down and doing the same with another. There's a quick knock at the door to his right, and when he looks up he watches Gryffin Anselm walk in through the door, with Tino and Hendrickson Tyler following him into the makeshift office. Gryffin Anselm: Hey, Lando. Quite a bit of paperwork you got there... that all for this weekend? Landon sighs and nods. Landon Savage: Unfortunately. Gryffin looks moderately amused by the amount of work Landon has on his hands. Gryffin Anselm: You want Tino to take care of it for you? He knows his way around a shredder. Landon puts up his hands. Landon Savage: Thanks, but no, aside from the paperwork, I like this job and don't want to lose it just yet, and I'm afraid to say that all of this... He picks up a couple of the folders. Landon Savage: Kinda essential to this event being a huge success. Slowly Gryffin starts nodding. Gryffin Anselm: Well, suit yourself. I tried to do you a favor... and now... well... something occurred to me, Landon. Sitting back in his chair, Landon Savage looks interested to hear what Gryffin has to say. Gryffin Anselm: Not sure if you saw it or not, but that Calgary Carl guy? He showed up. He's back with the Canuckin' Cowboys. Amazing, right? Landon nods. Landon Savage: I guess so. Gryffin Anselm: And the World Tag Title Match... it was made a three-way match because of Carl's disappearance and the supposed involvement of the Diabolik. Now that he's back, it only makes sense that things go back to the way it should be... back to a match just between The Diabolik and Domination. Landon holds up a hand, cutting Gryffin off before he goes any further. Landon Savage: Will, I've known you for a while, and I really wish I could help you guys out with this, but there's no chance it's going to be anything other than a three-way. The rest of the front office really likes the dynamic you six guys are going to bring to this title match, and there's nothing that's going to convince them to switch it back to a simple two-on-two. Slowly Gryffin starts nodding. Gryffin Anselm: I see. There's an awkward moment of silence. Landon Savage: If it makes a bit of difference to you, I'll be rooting for the Diabolik to retain. After another brief moment of awkward silence, Gryffin pats Landon Savage on the shoulder - rather forcefully, actually. Gryffin Anselm: Good to know. Without any further discussion, Gryffin exits the office. As Gryffin walks past him, Tino keeps his eyes on Landon Savage, and he doesn't look happy. Once Gryffin walks through the door, Tino follows him. Instead of following them, Hendrickson Tyler takes a step forward and addresses Landon Savage. Hendrickson Tyler: Big mistake, Landon. He glares into Landon's eyes. Hendrickson Tyler: Huge. Landon has no reply. Hendrickson Tyler: If either of those two other teams end up with the Diabolik's titles? Gritting his teeth, Hendrickson Tyler doesn't even finish his thought. After another tense moment, Hendrickson stands up straight, fixes his jacket and then exits the room. Qualifier Match
Lucien Gray vs Alex Harmston vs Percy Wright Jimmy Yates: Our opening contest of the evening is the only three-way on tonight's card as Lucien Gray, Alex Harmston, and Percy Wright compete to try to qualify for the Opportunity Ladder Match at ELEVATED TENSIONS.. Bryan Harris: Three very different styles represented in this match, with a big guy like Lucien Gray bringing the power game, Alex Harmston bringing his strategic striking skills and submission knowledge, and then Percy Wright... How should we describe Percy Wright? Alan Ducard: One thing I will say about Percy Wright is that, although his style is... unconventional, he does, from time to time, tend to find ways to win matches. Jimmy Yates: Well this would be what I would consider to be his biggest match in LEGACY thus far, considering what's at stake, so he'd better do something here tonight if he wants to continue to move up the ladder after he got his tenure started off nicely with a few early wins. Bryan Harris: You can bet your ass that Lucien Gray and Alex Harmston both really want to move on to that ladder match, so whoever wins this match is probably going to be the one who put the most effort into it. Alan Ducard: That's how these things usually play out. Start : Footage from the Match With Percy Wright standing on the outside watching on, Alex Harmston quickly works his way back up off the mat after having been slammed down by Lucien Gray. Circling around a bit, Harmston shakes the cobwebs and looks for an opening to strike. As Lucien moves in, Harmston takes a quick step forward and to the side and rocks the big man with a hard right hand. Bryan Harris: Lucien Gray's a big guy who packs a huge punch, but I don't think he wants to try to match the "stand up" skills against the MMA-trained Alex Harmston. Jimmy Yates: As long as Alex can keep things in a structured battle, he has the upperhand, but if this degrades into a brawling situation, Lucien's got the upperhand. Alan Ducard: Harmston connects with another good right hand, staggering Lucien again... now Harmston moves in and connects with a kick to the back of the leg that staggers Lucien Gray backwards. Sensing his opportunity, Alex Harmston shoots in and takes Lucien Gray down with a leg tackle, twisting around to make sure the big man doesn't fall down right on top of him. Once he's got Lucien on the mat, Alex slides up and starts connecting with forearm shots to the face which electrify the crowd watching on live. Sliding back into the ring, Percy Wright takes advantage of the opportunity and dives in, connecting with a shoulderblock which sends Harmston off of the masked giant and onto his back. Percy gets to his feet quickly and begins peppering his opponent with kicks. Jimmy Yates: Look who decided to rejoin the action! Bryan Harris: Well played by Percy Wright. When he escaped to the outside a couple minutes ago, he was in serious danger of getting his ass kicked, and now he's in control. Alan Ducard: With Lucien Gray getting up off the mat, I'm not sure how long that advantage is going to last. Bryan Harris: Oh Percy Wright is definitely aware of his opponent. Moving his attention away from Alex Harmston, Percy Wright moves in behind Lucien Gray and jumps up onto the big man's back, wrapping his arm around Lucien's neck and pulling backwards, choking him. Struggling to not let this continue any longer, Lucien reaches back and grabs Percy around the head, pivots around and throws him forwards with a snapmare style move, throwing him right down onto Alex Harmston. Bryan Harris: Two for One sale for the big man! Jimmy Yates: Just when I thought Alex Harmston was going to get back up, that seriously hurts his chances. Alan Ducard: And now Percy Wright rolls back out of the ring to avoid getting attacked further. Grabbing Harmston by the arm, Lucien Gray lifts his opponent up off the mat, and instead of releasing his wrist, Lucien violently pulls Alex in towards him and flattens him with a short-arm clothesline. Already near the corner, Lucien begins climbing the turnbuckles, and with his feet on the second one, he propels himself backwards, landing a body splash down onto Alex Harmston, then hooking the leg and going for the pinfall. One... Two... Three. Josephina Colbert: Here is your winner by pinfall... Lucien... Gray!! Jimmy Yates: And the big man wins it, getting the pinfall on Alex Harmston as the weasely Percy Wright escapes... Bryan Harris: Near the end of that match it was obvious that Lucien Gray had the upperhand, so I definitely don't blame Percy Wright for not sticking around, it was definitely a strategic move on his part. Alan Ducard: The phrase "live to fight another day" certainly comes to mind based on Percy's actions, and that may keep him from losing matches from time to time, but if he hopes to gain championship gold he might want to think up another strategy. Backstage We're backstage at the merchandise table of Loco Martinez. Sitting
behind the table filled with merchandise for THE Legacy Superstar, are
T.Rex and Arch Angel. Rex, in the silver with blue print "You can't
spell Main Event..." t-shirt. Angel in the opposite, blue shirt,
silver print. And hovering over them looking paranoid is Loco Martinez.
He watches his employees every move with manic intensity. No move goes
unexamined. He even eyeballs the patrons suspiciously. Loco is also
in the silver "You can't spell Main Event, without ME" t-shirt,
faded and worn blue jeans and is actually in a Santa hat, though his
face is more Grinch than Santa... he takes in his surroundings with
disdain. Brilliant
We're in the crowd and we see Andrew Kelley standing there with, for some reason, John Iley. Andrew raises his mic as we see the crowd going crazy because their on camera. Andrew Kelley: I'm here right now with John Iley, one of the particpants of the Ladder match at Elevated Tensions, of which the three qualifying matches for that are taking place here tonight. Now John, the first time we met, you were at ringside during an event, now, you’re in the crowd at another event, why are you here? John Iley: *smirking* I'm here because I didn't buy a ringside ticket quick enough! John looks at the camera and gives a stupid smile while Andrew tries not to laugh, then John turns back to Andrew. Iley: But seriously, the reason I'm here tonight, is because like last time, I'm scouting. I'm wanting to see who makes it into the match so I can work out my stratagy and hopefully work out a winning formula to get myself up that ladder and take the case, and get the greatest opportunity of my short career here in LEGACY! Kelley: Well, what are your plans so far? Iley: Haway man, do you honestly think I'm going to tell you? He puts an arm around Kelley, nearly knocking him off his feet. Iley: Trust me though, at the PPV, I've got it just about all worked out. What I'm going to do, what I need to do, and to whom. But most importantly, I know how I'm going to do it. Now I haven't quite decided what I'm going to do with that opportunity in that case just yet. But by the end of that match, when that case is in my hands, I'll have made that decision, and you can take that... to the BANK! Andrew turns back to the camera. As he does so, Iley starts jumping about with the crowd like he's one of the fans! Kelley: Well folks there you have it, John Iley, here watching the PPV Pre Show. For some reason Iley then dives out of camera view. Kelley: Lets get back to the action with our next qualifying match for the Elevated Tensions Opportunity Ladder match! Iley then pops up infront of the camera Iley: ILEY RULES!!!! HAWAY THE LAD!!! All of a sudden all of the lights in the arena go out and words start to scroll across the LEGACY Vision jumbotron in red letters. Your HEROES have failed you. The tron screen goes blank and the lights come back on like nothing happened. Bryan Harris: Now what in the hell was that all about? Alan Ducard: I know my countrymen from the north have an odd sense of humor... Bryan Harris: I'm not talking about John Iley, I'm talking about the lights going out and that babble showing up on the LEGACY Vision. Jimmy Yates: I'm sure that couldn't have been on purpose. In the next couple days, keep your eyes and ears open, because I'm guessing that was just a failed video package by someone who’s about to get fired from the production staff. Qualifier Match
Kevin Oppenheimer vs Hector Rodriguez Jimmy Yates: The second match of tonight’s pre-show puts two men across the ring from one another who have never squared off one-on-one in LEGACY before, but the more knowledgeable of fans can tell you that this is hardly their first battle. Bryan Harris: The first time I saw these two guys standing face to face with one another, you could tell right away that there was some tension between them, and so I started asking around trying to see if they’d ever been in the same place before, and let me tell you, these guys have some serious bad blood with one another. Alan Ducard: After speaking with my fellow countryman Kevin Oppenheimer, I got a bit of the scoop on their history with one another, and we could take the entire pre-show discussing things that happened between them in Germany, Great Britain, Canada, and Japan, but let me just assure you, if you can find some of their match videos on the internet somewhere, you will be glad that you undertook the search. Bryan Harris: No doubt about it, and if a compilation DVD ever comes out with their best matches on it, I’ll certainly be getting a copy. Jimmy Yates: With a limited amount of time available, I think we’re going to get right to the footage to show you as much of what happens as possible. Alan Ducard: Let’s have us a look. Start : Footage from the Match Taking Hector by the wrist, Kevin Oppenheimer sends his opponent into the ropes. On the return, however, Rodriguez spots a back drop attempt soon enough, and instead of getting caught with the move, Hector sprints in and drives his knee upwards, catching Kevin right in the jaw, knocking him backwards, landing flat on his back. Bryan Harris: It's a good thing Kevin Oppenheimer is British, because otherwise he might have to make a visit to the dentist after that one. Alan Ducard: We Brits do actually care about our teeth, Bryan, despite the stereotypes. Lifting Kevin up off the mat, Hector Rodriguez hooks Oppenheimer’s head under his arm, then grabs him by the waistband of his pants and lifts him clear up off the mat, up into a vertical suplex. Holding him there for a moment, then pivots, takes a step forward and tosses Kevin forwards, sending him crashing down onto the back of his neck. Jimmy Yates: Holy crap!! THAT'S gotta hurt! Alan Ducard: Kevin Oppenheimer took a nasty spill on that one, but he's actually already fighting to try to get back up to his feet. Bryan Harris: He might want to think about staying down on the mat a little more. Backing up across the ring, Hector watches and waits as Kevin uses the ropes to help him return to his feet. Once Kevin is back to a vertical base, Hector runs in and goes for a Yakuza Kick, but Kevin ducks out of the way at the last moment. Unable to get his foot back down in time, Hector gets his leg caught on the top rope. Turning around and grabbing Hector by the head and leg, Kevin not only pulls his opponent off the ropes, but the then dops backwards and sends Rodriguez down to the mat with a fallaway slam. Alan Ducard: Typically we see Kevin Oppenheimer integrate a backflip into his fallaway slams, but I imagine after the first part of this match, he's just too sore for that. Bryan Harris: It definitely takes away from the impact on the move. Walking over and putting one of his legs on either side of Hector’s chest, Kevin reaches down and grabs each of Hector’s wrists, one in each hand. Pulling up slightly until Rodriguez’s arms are fully extended, Oppenheimer puts his foot on Hector’s chest, then pulls up with his arms, lifting Hector off the mat and then shoves him back down with his foot, stomping down onto Hector’s sternum. Not letting go, Kevin does this repeatedly five or six times before letting go of Hector’s wrists. Jimmy Yates: Those are some brutal stomps by Kevin Oppenheimer! Alan Ducard: You can certainly understand why Hector is holding his chest after that move, and it looks like he's coughing as he tries to get up off the mat. Bryan Harris: I would bet those stomps would make it a little hard to breathe. Reaching down and grabbing a handful of hair, Kevin lifts Hector up off the mat, pulls him to the corner, lifts him up off the mat and sets him up on the top turnbuckle. Taking him by the hair, Kevin begins to pull Hector’s torso away from the corner, but as he starts to move back, Kevin is pulled back in towards the corner as Hector hooks his leg on the turnbuckle. Rodriguez meets Oppenheimer with a forearm shot to the side of his face, rocking him back and dropping him to a knee. Bryan Harris: Well that didn't work out like Oppenheimer was hoping it to! Unhooking his legs, Hector gets down off the turnbuckle just as Kevin Oppenheimer starts to get up off the mat. Spinning around, Rodriguez catches his opponent with a roundhouse kick to the gut, further doubling him over, and then pivots around and hits another roundhouse kick, this time to the back of the leg. Taking Kevin by the head, Hector once again lifts him up into a vertical suplex, backs up a step, steps up to the second turnbuckle, hops upwards and falls, letting the back of Kevin’s neck fall down onto the top turnbuckle with a brainbuster. Crowd: OOOOOHHHH!!! Alan Ducard: Kevin slumps down onto the mat, Hector hooks the leg and goes for the pinfall… One… Two… Three. The referee gets up off the mat and signals for the bell. Josephina Colbert: Here is your winner by pinfall... Hector... Rrrrrodrrrriiiiguez!!! Jimmy Yates: After a very brutal match between two guys who have done this all over the world, Hector Rodriguez gets his hand raised in victory, and he qualifies to take part in the Opportunity Ladder Match coming up Sunday night at ELEVATED TENSIONS. Bryan Harris: If I were one of the other 7 guys who had already qualified to be in that match, I'd be very thankful for how tough Kevin Oppenheimer fought here tonight. It's obvious that H-Rod is the kind of guy who likes to inflict pain, which he did a lot of in the match that just ended, but he definitely doesn't look like he's going to be able to go into the match at the pay per view at 100%. Alan Ducard: That's quite a fair assessment, and in addition to the brusing he's going to have, Hector has been coughing ever since Kevin Oppenheimer did that chest stomp on him, and he has been coughing all the way back up the ramp. Jimmy Yates: I seem to remember him coughing a couple times backstage when I saw him earlier tonight, but it didn't appear to be as bad as it is now. Bryan Harris: H-Rod is a tough, tough guy, and I don't think you have to worry about him coughing or being a little bruised, he's going to be a difference maker on Sunday, and you can bet that Cronos Diamante, Issac Entragian, X-Calibur, and John Thomas are all going to be hoping that he's too banged up to win that Opportunity Ladder Match. A lone cameraman is in the backstage looking at a person who is sitting down in the hallway, looking like he is deep in meditation. Camo Pants, combat boots. That could only mean one person! Tyrone "Crazy Boy" Smith. Tyrone opens his eyes and sees the camera staring RIGHT at him. He jumps up a little bit and hits the camera. cRaZY bOy: NEVER EVER SNEAK UP ON A CRAZY PERSON WHEN HE IS MEDITATING! IT IS NOT HEALTHY FOR ANYONE! Tyrone stands up and looks at the camera and smiles a little bit, nodding his head. cRaZY bOy: No more games. No more midgets. No more anything. It's time to get serious. This is quite possibly my biggest match of my career. Forget Mirage. Forget Matt Towers. Forget everything else. I have to contend with 8 other people and all of us have the same mindset and the same goal... to grab that briefcase hanging above the ring which has a contract for your choice for the Tao of Valor Championship or No Limits Championship. Now that doesn't seem like a whole lot, but for me, it means everything. It would be my first title in Legacy and what better place to start off at then on of those two titles. Crazy Boy paces in front of the camera and tries to think about what to say next. cRaZY bOy: Now people have been asking me "If I win the match, what title will I be going after?" Well, like I've told everyone else, I know which one I want, but I'm not going to say it until the match is over. All that needs to be said is the 4 participants in the 2 matches that they better watch their backs because after I win the ladder match, I'm going to be after one of the titles and they better be prepared for me because I will be at the top of my game. Tyrone nods at the camera and sits back down and nods his head. cRaZY bOy: Now leave me to my meditating before I go ninja on you!!! The camera slowly backs away as Tyrone closes his eyes again and the cameraman slowly moves away, trying not to disturb him any further. Qualifier Match
Ron Bailey vs Katsuro Yoshida Alan Ducard: It is now time for tonight's main event as Ron Bailey and Katsuro Yoshida battle it out to see which of them will join Lucien Gray and Hector Rodriguez as having qualified on tonight's pre-show to join in on the Opportunity Ladder Match at ELEVATED TENSIONS. Jimmy Yates: This match doesn't have nearly the history to it that our previous match between Oppenheimer and Rodriguez did, but this is just a good old fashion "clash of ideals" match as the ultra-serious and respectful Katsuro Yoshida made the challenge to the young, brash, "anything goes" Ron Bailey. Bryan Harris: Look, some people like gambling, some people don't, but in the end we all like to make predictions on what we think the outcome of an event is going to be... whether it's a sporting event, a professional fight, a race of some kind, a movie, whatever. Ron Bailey is willing to toss some cash out there in those instances, and I respect that. Alan Ducard: I'd be interested to know exactly how confident Ron Bailey is of his chances here tonight against a very tough veteran opponent in Katsuro Yoshida. Jimmy Yates: It probably depends on how knowledgable Ron Bailey is about Katsuro Yoshida's Bushido Buntai success back in Japan. Bryan Harris: If there's one thing you can bet on, it's that Ron Bailey did his homework and knows exactly what he's about to step into the ring with. Enough talking, let's check out the action. Start : Footage from the Match The action picks up with Katsuro Yoshida and Ron Bailey engaged in a lock-up position. After both combatants try to gain the leverage on the other, Bailey locks in a Judo style hip throw and rolls it into a scarf-hold submission maneuver. He tries to add pressure to the submission to weaken Yoshida as he cinches the hold in tightly. Alan Ducard: Very nice transition by Ron Bailey from that Judo style hip throw into a scarf hold, showcasing his very versatile Mixed Martial Arts skills. Bryan Harris: This is an excellent mode of attack by Bailey as he is trying to cut the blood flow to the brain of Katsuro Yoshida off in a way to soften him up for "The Sure Thing". Jimmy Yates: It's such a shame this guy makes such shady dealings because he has the talent to go far in this business if he just wouldn't deal with such scrupulous people because that might one day come back to haunt him. Bryan Harris: Look, Jimmy, this ain't a nice guy business, sometimes you have to make deals with the devil to succeed in this business. All Bailey is doing is trying to enhance his career, can you blame him for that? Jimmy Yates: No, but- Bryan Harris: Then SHUT UP! Alan Ducard: Gentlemen, can we just reach a compromise here by saying that Bailey has done what he's had to do to succeed, but that he must be careful with whom he aligns himself with? While Bailey tries to cinch in the hold, Yoshida counters it with a backslide into a pinning predicament. Bryan Harris: Katsuro with the counter here, can he hang on for the pinfall? ONE… TWO… No! Bailey gets the shoulder up and tries to go back on the attack with a reverse chin lock followed by stiff knees to the back of Katsuro. Yoshida then starts tapping his foot on the canvas rhythmically to try and keep himself from tapping out. Alan Ducard: Bailey certainly does have that chin lock cinched in quite tightly, but Katsuro's trying valiantly to get these great LEGACY fans behind him to give him a little adrenaline. Bryan Harris: Why in the world would these morons cheer on a robotic wrestler like Katsuro Yoshida? He's just like so many Japanese wrestlers before him that came to the States and flopped miserably such as Kenzo Suzuki, TAKA Michinoku, and several others because they had absolutely zero charisma! Jimmy Yates: See Bryan, that sort of asinine statement proves you know
nothing about wrestling. What about Keiji Mutoh, Kensuke Sasaki, Jinsei
Shinzaki, Yoshihiro Tajiri, Masahiro Chono? I could go on and on about
the long laundry list of Japanese wrestlers that have revolutionized
this business with this whole "Strong-Style" movement you
see in guys like Samoa Joe, Takeshi Morishima, and many others. Katsuro
actually has all the tools needed to make himself a respected household
name in LEGACY with his ability! Bryan Harris: Yeah, well, his won-loss record hasn't exactly been all that bright lately, now has it? Do either of you two have an answer for that? Katsuro then manages to get to his feet as the crowd starts to get behind him as he elbows Bailey in the side a couple of times before turning the chin lock into a sit-out jawbreaker combo. As Katsuro gets up, he's holding his neck ever so slightly, but he composes himself quickly as Bailey tries to go for a clothesline, but Yoshida does a matrix-style maneuver to escape the impact and as Bailey is briefly knocked off balance on the forward momentum of the clothesline, it gives Katsuro time to catch Bailey on the rebound with a brutal roundhouse kick to the head. Alan Ducard: What a breath-taking show of evasive action by the Japanese superstar followed by a well-placed kick to the cranium of Ron Bailey! Bryan Harris: Have you ever heard of the expression "all-sizzle, but no-steak"? Jimmy Yates: What does that have to do with anything? Bryan Harris: It might have looked impressive, but really all it did was delay the inevitable ass-kicking Katsuro's got coming to him! Jimmy Yates: God, you're impossible, Bryan! Katsuro then locks in a modified Dragon Sleeper and rolls it into a Dragon Clutch as Bailey is flailing his arms, trying to grab the ropes with all his might as Katsuro leans back to apply more pressure. Bailey then starts to inch toward the ropes and Katsuro then turns it into a Fujiwara Armbar to put more pressure on his arms. Alan Ducard: One must admire this very business-like approach of Katsuro Yoshida. This is a man who takes his craft very seriously. Bryan Harris: His approach may be all business-like, but his won-loss record as of late hasn't exactly been all that great, now has it? Jimmy Yates: Katsuro may have come up on the short end of the stick as of late in a few matches but he's put in some strong showings that have turned the heads of LEGACY management. Bryan Harris: But the bottom line is if you don't win in this business, you don't get paid! Bailey is screaming out in pain as he manages to find his way to the ropes. Katsuro then gives a clean break and moves Bailey to the ropes with a two-handed chop. Katsuro then goes for the praying rope walk, but Bailey has the alertness to kick the ropes, knocking Katsuro off balance as he straddles the ropes. Ron sees his opening and runs at him with a running Enzuigiri kick to the back of the head as Katsuro slumps down on the mat. Bailey then goes for the cover. Alan Ducard: What a devastating kick to the back of Katsuro Yoshida's head and one must wonder if that right there has just won the match for Ron Bailey. Bryan Harris: Bailey just about knocked his head clear into the eighth row on that kick! Jimmy Yates: Katsuro went to the well one time too many and Ron Bailey makes him pay dearly for it as he now has the cover. One... TWO... THR... NO!!! Katsuro's foot is outside the ropes! Alan Ducard: Katsuro just dodged a bullet there as his left foot was outside the ropes and the referee spotted it in the nick of time. Bryan Harris: That was just a lucky break for Katsuro! It's still not gonna matter because Ron Bailey is going to humiliate this robot. Jimmy Yates: Call it ring awareness, a lucky break, whatever you will, this match will continue! Ron Bailey then looks at the referee in disbelief and begins to jaw with him for a moment. He then thinks about striking the referee but he controls his temper and takes it out on Katsuro as he picks him up and begins to hit him with some martial arts kicks to his knees followed by a roundhouse kick to his head. Katsuro then falls to the ground in a heap. Ron Bailey then calls for the end of the match as he starts taunting Katsuro. He then picks him up in a Fireman's Carry position as he appears to be going for "The Sure Thing", but Katsuro counters it into a pinning predicament. Alan Ducard: Excellent counter by Katsuro Yoshida, but will it be enough? One... TWO... Bryan Harris: Kickout by Bailey and I think he wasn't expecting that! Jimmy Yates: I don't think any of us were expecting that to happen! And Bailey is becoming very frustrated as he can't seem to put away Katsuro Yoshida! Alan Ducard: If Ron Bailey wants to win this match, he has to keep a cool head because if he loses his temper, Katsuro is a guy that can easily take advantage of the slightest miscue. Bailey then tries to go for a running knee to the head of Yoshida, but is met with a running handspring into a back elbow smash by Yoshida as Katsuro then gets up with a great deal of momentum on his side. He then picks up Ron Bailey and connects with a series of elbow strikes followed by a Roaring Elbow that levels Bailey to the ground. Katsuro then picks up Bailey and puts him in position for a Powerbomb, but Bailey turns it into a Fireman's Carry and in one swift motion, spins him into a knee to the face, hitting "The Sure Thing" full bore as Katsuro goes down like he got hit by a car. Alan Ducard: Just when it seemed this match was going to belong to Katsuro Yoshida, Ron Bailey might have took advantage of a miscue by Katsuro Yoshida to potentially win this match! Bryan Harris: By the looks of things, Katsuro got hit with "The Sure Thing" so hard, his grandchildren will be born unconscious! Jimmy Yates: The three count should be academic here. ONE... TWO... THREE!!! Josephina Colbert: Here is your winner by pinfall... Ron... Bailey!! Alan Ducard: There's the bell and Ron Bailey has officially advanced to Opportunity Ladder Match, but he had to earn his ticket to that match! Bryan Harris: And Katsuro Yoshida goes home empty handed once again! Jimmy Yates: Katsuro nearly had this match won as he appeared to be going for a Powerbomb, but Ron Bailey manages to counter to get into the Opportunity Ladder Match! Alan Ducard: My question to you gentlemen is can Ron Bailey win the Ladder Match even after the grueling encounter he just had? Bryan Harris: I guess our viewers at home who haven't used their paychecks to order "Elevated Tensions" yet might want to take this time to order the pay-per-view! Jimmy Yates: With the way things have started, I can't wait to see what "Elevated Tensions" has in store for us! |
