The LEGACY Tour logo shows up on a black screen and it fades out as "Awake" by Godsmack starts to play, and clips from the past two shows fade in and out. The first footage we see shows Tim Jones and Jimmy Smith battling it out and then Tim Jones picking up the win and earning himself a shot at the No Limits Title. The next thing we see are the Old School Kings using some good tag team tactics against John Page and Aaron Beaudway, the final clip of Wolfson and Dominion hitting their RULE OF DOMINION finisher and picking up the win. Clips from last week's main event are shown, with Conor McLellan and Declan O'Leary battling it out. Next we see a clip of Jack Henderson taking on James Win and picking up a win to get a Tao of Valor Championship match. Following that we see Creed violently picking up a win over Diego de Cardenas, and then a win in a Submissions Only Tao of Valor match against Osamu Hayashi. The violent chairshots by Marcus Marion on John Thomas then fill the screen, each sickening crash heard loudly. We then see clips of Herb Moxley and DJ Cassidy battling it out with Stein and Conor, followed by the Nerds picking up the win and putting the World Tag Team Championship belts over their shoulders. The last thing we see are quick flashes from the match between Katsuro Yoshida and Stephen Rawlings. The kicks, the punches, the martial arts strikes. We see a clip of Katsuro pinning Rawlings with an Australian suplex, and then Rawlings, angry backstage, making the challenge that lead to tonight's match. TONIGHT'S LINEUP
The show opens on a shot of Mark Perletta, Joey C and Landon Savage sitting behind a desk that resembles what you would see anchors sit behind in the studio of a sports news program such as Sports Center. Behind them is an elaborate backdrop which includes the yellow golden LEGACY logo. Mark Perletta: Welcome, everyone, to another edition of STRIFE, brought to you by LEGACY. Tonight we have a great show for you, not only because of the matches that we've got lined up, but because of how they end up setting things up for what should be a great show next week as well. Landon Savage: More on that as we get to it, lets not get too ahead of ourselves to talk about next week before we've even started this week's show. Amateurs. We've got two matches here tonight with championship ramifications, and you're already talking about next week. Joey C: The first of those matches with great significance include the Tao of Valor Championship match between the seemingly unstoppable Nicholas Creed and the newcomer Jack Henderson, who earned this match last week by defeating James Win. Mark Perletta: And tonight's main event will determine whether Stephen Rawlings will get a World Title shot, or whether it will be Bushido Buntai member Katsuro Yoshida. Joey C: Until we get a longer time slot from the FX network, time will always run short, so lets get things started, and I have to say, things get started off a little strangely. Christmas in July
Oh! You better watch out, Santa Claus is coming to town! Joey C: What in the blue... Mark Perletta: …hell is going on? Landon Savage: How cute, you guys can finish each others sentences, you both should get married next week. The camera goes from its initial shot of the ring and crowd and then switches over and spans out to the Legacy Entrance but nothing is coming out from there and the announce team is still speculating at what is going on. Joey C: Ah go to hell Landon. Landon Savage: You want to make me? No talent... Mark Perletta: Can we have some professionalism here PLEASE? We have to work together, lets make the best of it. He's making a list, Santa Claus is coming to town! Then the camera catches something or someone coming out of the entrance way and its some dressed like Santa Clause! Joey C: I guess its Christmas in July, or something like that. Mark Perletta: I wonder what is going on here? The Santa figure walks out from the curtain under the LEGACY-tron and beings to walk slowly down the ramp, laughing jollily and throwing candy out of his bag to the fans in the audience. They are clawing and fighting over each other to get at the free items being tossed to them. Santa is wearing his trademark red hat with a white ball at the end. He has on square glasses, his bushy white beard. Red and white sash encases his body with his trademark large belly. He more or less looks like what every kid envisions Santa to be. Santa Claus (yelling loud enough for the cameras to be able to pick them up with their mics) "HO! HO! HO! Merry Christmas everyone, Merry Christmas!" Landon Savage: I think Santa got a bit confused, he has 6 more months before he has to make his shopping mall excursions... Mark Perletta: Are you saying that isnt the REAL Santa? Landon Savage (with a bewildered look on his face): Santa? Real? You do know he is just made up right? Something parents do so if the kids don’t like their gifts, they can blame it on him, he is America's scapegoat at Christmas. Don’t you know anything Joey? Mark Perletta: Santa gave me my red bike last year! You are not going to force me to believe you! Santa is REAL! He has decided to come out from the North Poll a bit early this year. The shot comes off of the announce team and back to Santa who is now in the ring and Santa is standing in the ring, laughing and waving to all the kids in attendance, to the adults, well to ALL the fans. Joey and Landon continue to argue about Santa and his reality in this world, when the arena falls to a pitch black. Mark Perletta: "The lights have just gone out on Santa, someone must want to come out and put an end to this feel good moment for the kids in our audience." A single spotlight shines on the ring and Santa is now sitting on a wood stool, with a little book in his hands, and a microphone sitting on a little stand in front of him. Santa Claus: "I know its only July, snow isn't even teasing to fall on the ground...well actually...that is a lie.. As Santa stops to talk, a white power begins to fall slowy from the celling of the arena, covering the ring in what almost looks like snow, but it cant be. However this white poweder is coming down covering the fans, santa, and our announce team.... Joey C: Yea! I can go bulid a snowman! Mark Perletta: Grow up will ya, please. The camera cuts back to the ring where Santa is laughing and rubbing his belly laughing. Santa Claus: "I figured being in the spirt of Christmas that i carry with me all, that makes us all more happy and jolly, i would try and bring some of that joy to you. To all of you fans, i am here to sing a version of the twelve days of Christmas. I know this will bring smiles to your faces and warm your hearts, making you feel the joy that i feel all the time.... Santa Clause coughs and stands up, moving the stool behind him a few feet, and moves the stand of the microphone up to face level... Santa Claus: "On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, One Tab of yellow sunshine LSD...." Joey C: "What the hell?" Mark Perletta: "Santa??!" Landon Savage just rolls his eye and sighs.... Santa Claus: "On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...Two Quaaludes, and a Yellow Tab of sunshine LSD... The fans are just standing their stunned, they have no idea what to do...a few are booing, but most are stunned. Santa Claus: "On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me..Three Pounds of Grass, Two Quaaludes, and a Yellow Tab of sunshine LSD...." Santa reaches down and takes a drink of water and gives a hearty 'HO HO HO' Santa Claus: "On the 4th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me.. Four Grams of Hash, Three Pounds of Grass, Two Quaaludes, and a Yellow Tab of sunshine LSD...." The fans are half booing and still stunned. The children are just looking up at their parents as if how could Santa be saying these things? Landon Savage: "This is just stupid, totally stupid." Santa Claus: "On the 5th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...Fiiiive Vaaal-liii-uuuuummmssss (deep breath), Four Grams of Hash, Three Pounds of Grass, Two Quaaludes, and a Yellow Tab of sunshine LSD...." Mark Perletta: "Santa, please stop....this cant be true!" Landon Savage: "You’re right, Santa, or whoever this is, needs to stop" Santa Claus: "On the 6th day of Christmas, my true love gave me to me Six Joints of Smoking, Fiiiive Vaaal-liii-uuuuummmssss (deep breath), Four Grams of Hash, Three Pounds of Grass, Two Quaaludes, and a Yellow Tab of sunshine LSD...." The fans really start to boo now, some garbage is being tossed into the ring... Santa Claus: "On the 7th day of Christmas, my true love gave me to me...Seven Pills of Popping, Six Joins of Smoking, Fiiiive Vaaal-liii-uuuuummmssss (deep breath), Four Grams of Hash, Three Pounds of Grass, Two Quaaludes, and a Yellow Tab of sunshine LSD...." Mark Perletta: "I am giving up listing to this garbage. Someone needs to go cut Santa's microphone or something!" Santa Claus: "On the 8th day of Christmas, my true love gave me to me...Eight Spoons of Snorting, Seven Pills of Popping, Six Joins of Smoking, Fiiiive Vaaal-liii-uuuuummmssss (deep breath), Four Grams of Hash, Three Pounds of Grass, Two Quaaludes, and a Yellow Tab of sunshine LSD...." Landon Savage: “Listen to you, talking a big game but not doing anything about it. YOU go do it, Perletta. You go take care of this problem.” Mark Perletta: "You want me to go up their, ok FINE! Santa Claus: "On the 9th day of Christmas, my true love gave me to me...Nine Oxy Bottles, Eight Spoons of Snorting, Seven Pills of Popping, Six Joins of Smoking, Fiiiive Vaaal-liii-uuuuummmssss (deep breath), Four Grams of Hash, Three Pounds of Grass, Two Quaaludes, and a Yellow Tab of sunshine LSD...." We see Perletta leaving the brodcast position and out from the back runs one of the road agents, both headed towards the ring to put a stop to Santa Clause rendion of the Tweleve Days of Christmas... Santa Claus: "On the 10th day of Christmas, my true love gave me to me...Ten Yogi Buttons, Nine Oxy Bottles, Eight Spoons of Snorting, Seven Pills of Popping, Six Joins of Smoking, Fiiiive Vaaal-liii-uuuuummmssss (deep breath), Four Grams of Hash, Three Pounds of Grass, Two Quaaludes, and a Yellow Tab of sunshine LSD...." Joey C: "Tweleve Days of Christmas my ass, more like the Tweleve Drugs of Christmas..." Santa Claus: "On the 11th day of Christmas, my true love gave me to me...Eleven Magic Mushrooms, Ten Yogi Buttons, Nine Oxy Bottles, Eight Spoons of Snorting, Seven Pills of Popping, Six Joins of Smoking, Fiiiive Vaaal-liii-uuuuummmssss (deep breath), Four Grams of Hash, Three Pounds of Grass, Two Quaaludes, and a Yellow Tab of sunshine LSD...." Santa Claus: "On the 12th day of... Mark Perletta: (on a handheld microphone) "Santa SHUT THE HELL UP!" The crowd who has been booing, errupts in cheers! Mark Perletta: "You must be confused Santa, someone must have given you the wrong lyrics sheet or something, you never would do something like this, its just not natural...." You can see in the back of Santa that road agent Carter Franklin has a knife in his hands, and he is looking to cut the microphone cord that Santa is using to project his song. Santa lays the microphone down, which causes Franklin to slowly look up, straighten out. Santa walks two steps forwards to Mark Perletta, and smiles at him, and gives him a 'HO HO HO' Slaps his black boot on the ground one time, and lunges backwards and connects his left foot high on the jaw of Franklin! The fans are a mix of cheers and boos, not sure what to do. Franklin goes down like a ton of bricks and the knife falls to the floor, where it is picked up by LEGACY ringside staff. Then Santa takes off his glasses, and puts his hand at his neck and begings to pull at his skin, and it comes off! It was a mask! The face releveled is... Mark Perletta: "Tim Jones? Are you kidding me? You are the imposter behind all of this?! " Tim reaches down and takes the microphone... Tim Jones: "One more Marky, and you will be joining ole’ Carter, here, in la la land. I have always liked the way you complement Joey C, so i will be sparing you some pain in your jaw, maybe from having to take some pills to take away the pain, the pain...my whole body is in pain. But you would have no idea what that is Perletta, would you? Mark Perletta: Um, no? Tim Jones: "No you would't. Joey C, Savage and you all talk like tough son of a bitches, like you all could kick our asses, and look at that piece of shit road agent. Laying there like the bitch he is, knocked the fuck out. And he deserved it, too. My drug problem is MY problem and not his? Fuck it, it is his problem, its your problem, its the fans problem, ITS FUCKING LEGACYs PROBLEM. I am fucking clean and I get no FUCKING respect. When I was an addict, when I was huddled in a ball 10 minutes before the red light turned on, I got more respect. They called me a warrior, a champion of the people. Now I’m just a bitch… A BITCH, PERLETTA!! Do you EVEN understand what that means to someone like me? Mark Perletta:. (silence) Tim Jones: "You can't. You announcers don’t live our lifestyles. Your not at the house shows, you come in one night a week and pretend like your roughing it like us wrestlers. I can guarantee you that half of the wrestlers in LEGACY have tried or are taking pain pills right now. Out of that half, only a few, will get addicted. But were talking what here? Thirty or so athletes? Fifteen on pills and for maybe four will become addicted. They will be called warriors, legends. They will be called anything they need to be called to have them forge on. To keep fighting, and i am here to END THAT INSANITY! Tim Jones: "What i stand for now, is what i think wrestling should be. No more drugs. Nothing. Get rid of it all, we blow out a knee, let the heal. No taking a shot or a pill so you cant feel your pain. That just leads to more problems. At the rate professional wrestling will be, their will be more Eddie's than we will know what to do with. You think death would be reform. Things would change, but they wont. They never do. Their is no change forthcoming, and im not going to wait for the next dead body to come up to make this change. That body could have been mine. Tim Jones: "You see that little song i sung to you, all the wrestlers known it by heart. You see, for some, all of those days, that is just a shopping list for them, toss out hash for aspirin, oxy pills, pain shots, they do em all. I could name names. I could play a whistle blower, but I’m not going to. I came clean to the world Joey. I feel great, but i think your scared of me right now, so why dont you go back and join Mark back at the broadcast booth, I want to have the floor to myself... Joey leaves the ring, and Tim continues to talk, watching Joey walk back up the ramp and to the ring... Tim Jones: "Joey, im sorry if i scared you...im sorry everyone. I dont know what im doing anymore. The pain is horrible. I wake up in the middle of the night, breaking out in sweat, crying, shaking, cold...its horrible. I dont want people to go though what i am still going through. It has gotten me more focued, to stop this. But im not sure how to do it. I mean people tried to get me to stop, but i ignored them. Boy was i fool. I was stupid, immature and now im paying for it. I am paying for it all the time. (Tim starts to cry, tears flowing out his eyes, he tries to whipe them away, but he hits the mat on both of knees) Tim Jones: "God please take me now. Take me out this hell that is my life, i can't go on anymore. I just cant do it. (Tim grabs at his hair and pulls on it, his facing cruching up, the pain flowing though his face) That is it huh, that is the answer god, your teaching me a lesson, WELL FUCK YOU GOD! Fuck you and you teaching me a lesson. I dont want your fucking lessons. Where we you when my grandmother died, a person who LOVED you. She did everything for you. Church, donated time, DEAD. Cancer. Tore her apart. Tore her right the fuck apart. Where the fuck were you God? She needed you, and I needed you. I needed your love, and your support, to comfort me, and you were no where to be found. Tim Jones: "God left me, (gestures to the fans) you all left me, you can still cheer me, but it dosnt matter. I dont care what you think of me anymore. When i truly needed each and everyone one of you to pull for me, you left me to dry. You left me to take the cocaine. You just wanted me to suck it up, to be the immortal warrior. Go ahead and boo me! You always hated me and I KNOW IT! YOU ALL FUCKING HATED ME I KNOW YOU DID! The fans don't boo, they stop for a second and begin to clap, slowly, as if one by one they are all starting...it becomes louder and louder, resonating though the arena. Tim, still crying, in a rage seems to stop and look around. His mouth opens slowly and he looks around at the scene. Mark and Joey are standing up, and looking around as well, and Tim begins to cry again and falls back down on the mat... Tim Jones: "Thank you, you understand....you know i don't mean it, you understand. It dosn't stop the pain, but it lessons the pain. You understand what i am doing. I promise i will stay clean, that i will return to form. It was only a year and a half ago i was at the top of my game. This is my vow to you fans of Legacy. I will be what i was a year and a half ago. I will be at the top of my game, and I will be clean while doing it. I will stay the rest of my life clean....thank you, that is my promise to all of you. Tim lays the microphone down and his new theme music, 'Crazy Bitch" by Buck Cherry begins to play and he looks down at the road agent, who is still on the ground but is starting to wake up. Tim spits on him and walks up the entrence way, shaking hands with all the fans that extend their hand, and everyone seems to do so. The view then switches back to the recap position where Landon Savage, Mark Perletta, and Joey C all look a bit conused by what just happened. Mark Perletta: An interesting opening segment there by Tim Jones, but once he went to the back, one of the competitors in tonight's first match came out to the ring, and he had something to say to the fans. Landon Savage: What the fans thought of what he had to say, that's a completely different story. First Impressions
Matt Larcen comes down to the ring and calls for his entrance music to stop and he grabs takes the microphone from the ring announcer. Matt Larcen: Now if everyone could just shut up a second please. What you are about to witness is some seriously dangerous high flying action. So if you could hold the excitement and keep the noise level down until the end of the match to keep me from accidentally hurting this jackass more then I meant to, that would be great. You're all going to get what you paid for. My shit's so hot even you unemployed losers in the back will be amazed. The crowd starts to chant "asshole!!" Matt Larcen: Excuse me!? SHUT THE FUCK UP!! The chant gets louder "ASSHOLE!!" Matt Larcen: YEAH, REAL FUCKING SMART. WHAT DO CANADIAN MEN LIKE TO GET FUCKED IN!? The chant of "asshole" starts to stop a little too late. Matt Larcen: THAT'S RIGHT UP THE FUCKING SHIT HOLE. WHICH IS WHERE THIS WHOLE GOD DAMN COUNTRY CAN GO FOR ALL I FUCKING CARE. A new chant begins. "Shut the Fuck up!" Matt Larcen: NO YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP!! DO YOU FUCKING PEOPLE EVEN KNOW WHO THE FUCK I AM!? FUCK YOU!! The microphone suddenly gets cut off and Matt Larcen goes ballistic as he continues to shout even though no one can hear him. The fans cheer on his anger. Debut Match
Matt Larcen vs Cian Randal Mark Perletta: That anger that started before the match continued as things got started, with Matt Larcen taking out his aggressions on Cian Randal, who appeared a bit timid early on in his first match, not only here in LEGACY, but of his career. Landon Savage: Second week in a row we've had a guy in the ring in his first ever match. Those consultants have been doing a great job, haven't they? You'd think maybe they'd consider recommending some dark matches for stuff like that. Mark Perletta: Well Matt Larcen was taking it to him for the first three or four minutes of this match, but Cian Randal did show some promise. Joey C: Yeah, he wasn't a COMPLETE idiot in the ring. I mean, sure, he didn't really do many wrestling moves, but what can you expect from a pacifist? Landon Savage: After seeing how he dresses and seeing the types of people he hangs out with, I expected much less than what we got from Mr. Cian Randal. Mark Perletta: Well after how he greated them before the match, the fans didn't seem to care what Matt Larcen was doing in the match, because they were booing him no matter what he did. Joey C: They're free to boo whoever they want, but this kid, Matt Larcen, he seems like he's for real. Mark Perletta: When Cian Randal started to get in some offense, however non-traditional it was, he was effective in putting Larcen on the mat several times himself. Landon Savage: Non-traditional? Try "non-impressive". I don't know whether it was because he just seemed like a male cheerleader totally out of his element, or whether it was because Larcen's offense was just so flashy and impressive, but I just wasn't feelin' Cian Randal. Mark Perletta: Matt Larcen did display some great luchador-type moves, both on the offensive and on the defensive. Start : Footage from the Match Matt Larcen charges in for a clothesline but seeing it coming, Cian Randal rolls out of the way. Hopping back up to his feet, Cian lands a dropkick to the chest of Larcen before he can continue in on the attack, then lifts him up by the head and takes Larcen down with a bulldog. Landon Savage: Well how about that, Cian Randal with his first real wrestling move of the match. Mark Perletta: I don't know if that was his first ACTUAL wrestling move of the match, he did get some dropkicks in there along the way. Hoping to capitalize, Randal again takes Larcen by the arm and lifts him up to his feet, irish whipping him into the ropes. On the return, however, Larcen leaps into the air and grabs on to Cian's head and takes him down to the mat with a Tornado DDT. Joey C: That little offensive run there by Cian Randal put to a screetching hault by that Tornado DDT, and a nice one at that. With Cian Randal on his back, Matt Larcen exits out to the apron, then quickly leaps up to the top rope. Not wasting a moment, Larcen leaps HIGH off the top rope, then flips backwards in the air and comes crashing down onto Cian with a shooting star press. Joey C: The move he calls the Grand Larceny, this could be it! ONE! TWO!! THREE!!! Winner by PINFALL : Matt Larcen Mark Perletta: Well the fans weren't happy with the result of the match, as Matt Larcen wins his debut contest here in LEGACY. Joey C: That might've had something to do with the fact that he stood up after scoring the pinfall and basically gloated over his victory. Landon Savage: Doesn't matter what the fans think. The fans don't affect the outcome of matches, just like we saw here in this first match. The fans don't like Nicholas Creed, but look at how well he has done. The fans don't like the Disorderly Youth, but when those two are getting along and trying to be a great team, Dan Stein and Conor McLellan are one of the top teams in this business, and what they did at Rise of the Elite 3, that just proved that fact. Mark Perletta: Sometimes negative reactions from the fans can push people to wrestle harder, but others just get frustrated. Tonight it seemed like Matt Larcen used their reactions for motivation. Will he be able to do that if the fans react to him like that every week? We'll have to wait and see. Then and Now
The scene cuts to LEGACY intern Avery walking backstage. He approaches Herbert Moxley and suddenly stops. The two smile curiously at one another. Avery: You’re Moxley! Moxley: You’re right! Avery: You were a TTW intern! Moxley: Indeed! Avery: I’m a LEGACY intern! Moxley: Well alright! Avery: Now look at you… You’re a two-time tag team champion, dating Jen X, a bon-a-fide star!! How did you make that kind of transition? Moxley: Ever hear of Derek Shane? Avery: uhh, no. Moxley: That’s ok. Most people haven’t. Let’s just stay I got into a fight backstage and it went from there. Avery: Maybe I should start a fight. Moxley: Uhh.. I don’t- Avery: With Nicholas Creed!! Moxley: You want to get a match, not get killed. Someone smaller maybe? Avery: Declan O’Leary? Moxley: Hmm. Sometimes smaller can be worse. Avery: It’s ok - I am happy just to be an intern. But hey, could you do me a favor? Moxley: I know, I know. You want an autograph. Avery: OH WOULD YOU?! Moxley: Sure thing. Avery: Thank you; I am such a huge fan… Moxley: No problem. Avery: ... of Jen X. Thanks dude! Moxley grimaces as Avery walks away happily. Moxley: J-Jen X? Herb shrugs his shoulders and walks off, and then the view then switches over to a shot of the ring from about three-quarters of the way up the arena, providing not only a great shot of the ring, but also the entrance way and most of the arena. A graphic shows up on the screen showing us what the next match is. Tao of Valor Match
Jack Henderson vs Nicholas Creed (c) Mark Perletta: The start of this match saw Nicholas Creed attempt to get things going at a faster pace, which would have given him the distinct advantage over the significantly older Henderson, but try as he might, Creed had trouble getting that going, with Jack doing everything in his power to keep things at a slower pace. Landon Savage: I'll hand it to him, Jack Henderson was able to deflect and reverse out of a couple of things that Creed tried, and he even was able to put Creed down on the mat through a takedown from behind after one of those reversals. Joey C: Once he got him there, he wrenched back on Creed's arm in something of a hammerlock, and much to my surprise and the surprise of a lot of the fans around the arena, not to mention the guys in the locker room, Jack Henderson was able to keep Creed facedown on the mat in that hammerlock for the better part of about four minutes. Mark Perletta: Every time Creed would try to get to his feet, Jack Henderson would switch up his angle of attack and force SIN back down to the mat. It wasn't until Creed maneuvered himself over to the ropes and grabbed on with his foot was he able to force a rope break to get out of the hold. Landon Savage: And at that point, things went extremely south for Jack Henderson. Creed got back to his feet and instead of trying to lock up with Henderson, he just started in on him with stiff left hands, and after he took Jack down to the mat for the first time, he definitely had some momentum. Joey C: That's putting it lightly. From that point on in this match, Creed was working on Henderson, putting him into a world of hurt. He put him on the mat with various suplexes and other types of takedowns, including what appeared to be an especially painfull rib-breaker. Mark Perletta: Although you could tell that the damage Creed was doing was taking its toll, Jack Henderson continued to fight back, and fight back hard he did, trying his best to block the various punches Creed threw at him, and when he found an opening, Henderson brought Creed down to the mat. Joey C: Call it what you will, but he basically tackled him down to the mat, and once he had him down there, Jack Henderson laid into the face of Creed with forearm shots, and as Creed covered up his face, Henderson laid into his ribs with hard rights and lefts. Mark Perletta: Deciding that covering up was no longer a viable option, Creed shoved Henderson off of him and out of the ring underneath the bottom rope. Nicholas was able to get back to his feet, but as he did, you could tell that the damage had been done. Landon Savage: Those shots to the ribs and face might've slowed Creed's attack, but it surely didn't slow his resolve, not even considering a loss in this match as an option with his Tao of Valor Championship on the line. Mark Perletta: Not wanting to get counted out, Jack Henderson got back into the ring to get things started again. After being sent into the ropes in an irish whip, Jack Henderson couldn't slow himself on the return and Nicholas Creed lifted him up, going for a spinebuster, but while in the air Jack was able to grab a hold onto Creed's head, and even after being slammed into the mat, Henderson maintains his front facelock on Creed. Joey C: I think that while Jack Henderson had Creed down on the mat with that facelock on, he had him locked in something more like a chokehold than anything else! Landon Savage: Looks like LEGACY needs quality referees, too. These aren't doing their job if they're not checking for forearms across windpipes. Mark Perletta: Well Jack Henderson keeping the match grounded with that front facelock for the three minutes that followed definitely weakened Nicholas Creed, but as we would come to find out he wasn't done yet. Start : Footage from the Match Picking him up from behind, Jack Henderson lifts Creed to his feet and drives his knee into the back of Creed's leg, putting him down on his knees. After kicking Creed in the back twice, Jack reaches in behind Creed and tries to lock him into a sleeperhold, but once he gets his arms around Creed's neck, SIN grabs him by the arm, gets to his feet and shoves backwards as hard as he can, sending Jack back first into the turnbuckle, breaking free of his grip, and then Creed sends Jack into the middle of the ring with a move that's half throw, half snap suplex. Grabbing Jack Henderson from behind, Creed lifts him up and throws him backwards into a German suplex, holding on for a pinfall attempt... ONE! TWO!! NO!! Jack Henderson shoulders out, breaking up the pinfall attempt. Creed gets up, lifting Jack Henderson to his feet before immediately driving a knee into his midsection, doubling him over. Moving in, Creed sends a rising knee right into Henderson's face, but then as he goes for another one he can't get his leg back, as Jack Henderson is holding on to his knee. Trying to break free, Creed pulls Jack up to a vertical base and clotheslines him down to the mat. Mark Perletta: Nicholas Creed goes for the Crimson Bullets, Jack Henderson finds a way to block it, but Creed finds another way to put him on his back. Joey C: That he did, and you'd have to think that the REIGN OF SIN is coming. If he hits that, it's going to be all over for Jack Henderson and his pathetic little old man Cinderella Story. Landon Savage: If Nicholas Creed is going to hit that REIGN OF SIN, he'd better do so soon, because we're about 12 minutes into this match with a 15 minute time limit. Joey C: It looks like he might be going for it now.... Creed stalks in behind Jack Henderson, waiting for him to get back to his feet. As he does Creed gets in and locks him into a full nelson, the energy level of the fans increasing as he does so, but as Creed goes to lift Jack Henderson up off the mat to finish his REIGN OF SIN move, Henderson hooks his foot under the bottom rope, keeping Creed from being able to lift him up. Creed tries to lift him again, but again he hooks his leg, this time he puts his second foot onto the second rope and propels himself backwards, knocking both he and Creed backwards and down to the mat. Mark Perletta: Jack Henderson blocking the REIGN OF SIN, but in an attempt to break free of Creed's grasp, both men are now down on the mat, and that full-nelson is still locked in! Joey C: It's only a matter of time now. Creed's got that full nelson locked in, and whether or not he can get Jack Henderson up into the REIGN OF SIN, you all saw what he did to Diego de Cardenas with this hold. If he doesn't hit his finisher, I'd bet MONEY he makes Jack tap out. Landon Savage: Interesting thought, but time is running short... Creed continues to wrench in the hold, but Jack Henderson keeps fighting, keep trying to get out of the hold, trying to get to the ropes. Henderson doesn't make any progress in getting closer to the ropes, but from the look on his face, he doesn't look deterred and he doesn't look to be wanting to give up. The referee slides in and checks to see if Henderson is going to give up. He then suddenly checks his watch, runs over towards the side of the ring closest to the time keeper's table, asks them a question, and then he runs over and slides in next to Henderson to again check for a submission. Henderson again says no, and then the referee looks over towards the time keeper's table, then down at his watch, and then he checks in again to see if Henderson is going to give up, and this time Henderson doesn't say anything, but he's obviously not going to. The referee then looks down at his watch again, then just gets up and walks over to the other side of the ring as the bell rings. Result of the Match : Time Limit Draw Mark Perletta: The first ever time-limit draws here in in LEGACY, obviously Nicholas Creed keeps the Tao of Valor Championship belt, but another question arose concerning what happens next week. Landon Savage: Being the man of action and the extremely professional reporter that he is as well as the weekly backstage representative of the front office, my one-time broadcast partner Smith Cartwright was all over that situation only minutes after the result went down. Backstage
With a mic in his hand and Nicholas Creed on one side of him, the Tao of Valor Championship over his shoulder, and Jack Henderson standing on the other side of him, Smith Cartwright is ready to make an announcement. Smith Cartwright: Knowing the interest the fans have expressed in the Tao of Valor Championship and the confusion that exists surrounding the stipulation matches which potentially lead to a guaranteed World Title shot, once I saw what happened in the ring here tonight with the time limit draw, I wanted to help clear up any further confusion that might cause, so I went right to the source and dialed up Rob Belote and got a conference call going with the rest of the front office. Creed looks extremely interested in what Cartwright has to say, and a moment later Eric Wolfson walks up behind Creed , wanting to listen in firsthand. Jack Henderson stands, watching Creed, eyeing Wolfson, and listening to what Cartwright has to say. Smith Cartwright: It was decided that by keeping his championship belt this week after a match with no stipulations, that Nicholas Creed has earned a second stipulation match, potentially getting him halfway to a guaranteed shot at the World Title. Creed gets a grin on his face. Smith Cartwright: The front office also decided that because Jack Henderson earned his shot at the Tao of Valor Championship, that he deserves the opportunity to see that match through to a decision. As we saw tonight, the 15 minute time limit wasn't enough, so next week, Nicholas Creed will once again defend his Tao of Valor Championship against Jack Henderson, this time in a Thirty Minute Iron Man Match, and whoever has the most pinfalls at the end of the match will be declared the Tao of Valor Champion and will receive the "30" token for the belt, one fourth of the stipulation tokens needed to earn a guaranteed shot at the LEGACY World Title. Jack Henderson looks appreciative of the opportunity, and Creed looks like he could care less, and he and Wolfson walk off after Cartwright makes the announcement. Watching them walk off, Cartwright then turns towards Jack Henderson. Smith Cartwright: Good luck, and nice work out there tonight. Henderson nods and then walks off down the hall in the opposite direction that Creed and Wolfson walked. The view then switches back over to the recap position. Joey C: So let me get this straight, Jack Henderson is going to have the third EVER match of his career next week, and already it's going to be his second ever title shot? Mark Perletta: Not many people thought he stood a chance last week against a veteran like James Win, even fewer people thought he would survive as long as he did against Nicholas Creed, so I wouldn't want to be the one to say there's something he CAN'T do. Landon Savage: What I want to know is what Jack Henderson's history before coming to LEGACY included if he wasn't in professional wrestling at all. The guy's tough, I'll give him that, and he seems to know how to fight. Mark Perletta: Well his entire time here, other than during an interview with Smith Cartwright, he's been extremely tight lipped, so as far as I know, no one knows what his history is, but as we move forward hopefully we learn more and more. Joey C: Two weeks ago, during a match against John Thomas, we got to learn a little bit more about the brutal side of Marcus Marion, weilding a chair and landing Thomas on the shelf for a few weeks with a mild concussion. Landon Savage: He put the kid on the shelf, trying to do him a favor by helping him see that he's not cut out to be in this business, and what happens? Loco Martinez gets pissed off and puts this challenge out there, trying to get some revenge for what happened to his friend. Mark Perletta: I saw him before his match tonight, and Loco Martinez seemed very determined... Landon Savage: Yeah? Well I saw Marcus Marion, and he seemed confident. Joey C: Well either way, that match is up next, so let's get on to it. Loco Martinez vs Marcus
Marion
Mark Perletta: As soon as this match got started, Loco Martinez went right in and started attacking Marcus Marion with an angered fury. Punches, kicks, dropkicks, Loco Martinez was going wild, even hitting an exciting move where Loco hit a hiptoss, did a cartwheel, then dropkicked Marion backwards down to the mat. Joey C: Being the ring tactician that he is, Marion exited the ring to try to slow down the pace of this match, and that damn Loco Martinez, he followed Marion out. Mark Perletta: Once out there, Loco Martinez went to work on Marion yet again, picking up where he left off when Marcus exited the ring. Landon Savage: That he did, but Marion's a former World Champion, he knows how to handle himself. A thumb to the eye and an irish whip into the steel ringpost later, and Marion got this match back under control. Joey C: And proving that he can get the job done against Loco inside the ring as well as outside, Marion threw Martinez back into the ring underneath the bottom rope and then followed him in. Mark Perletta: Once back in the ring, Marion slowed down the pace of teh match and worked over Loco's leg, ensuring that he would at least slow down Loco a little bit. Joey C: Everyone always talks about how great Loco Martinez is, how he's a Hall of Famer and how he should get his chance at fighting for the World Title in a big time match, but people need to start looking at Marcus Marion even more. Marcus Marion ended the reign of Devastation and he has defeated some of the best in our business. Landon Savage: People just don't like him, and because they don't like him, they're not going to give him the respect he deserves until he retires from this sport or until he does something to get in their favor some day, but for now, even getting quality wins over great opponents. Mark Perletta: Fighting this match to get some revenge, Loco Martinez worked as hard as he could to get back into this match, and as soon as he did, Marcus Marion again retreated to the outside, leaving the ring in hopes of slowing things down again, but this time Loco Martinez ran into the opposite ropes to gain momentum, and on the return he flipped over the ropes, and landing on Marion. Joey C: That crazy MoFo sacrificed his body just to take out Marcus Marion. His career could've been ended if Marion would've seen him coming and let him drop down to the outside, especially with all the punishment his body has taken over the years! Mark Perletta: Well the important thing for Loco Martinez is that he took out Marcus Marion, and after a few stomps on the outside, Loco picked up Marion and threw him into the ring under the bottom rope and then followed him in. Joey C: Yeah well when Loco Martinez picked Marion up and went for a irish whip and tried to follow it up with a dropkick, but Marcus Marion held on to the ropes, and Loco landed hard on his back. Marion then sprinted in and dropped an elbow onto Loco's sternum, then started to pick him up, but instead of bringing him all the way up to his feet, Marion kicked Martinez in the ribs, then dropped another elbow into Loco's upper back. Start : Footage from the Match Picking Loco up into a bodyslam position, Marion drops Martinez down onto his knee in a backbreaker, hitting Loco right onto his upper shoulders area, but he's not done there. Marion picks him up again in a bodyslam position, but this time as he goes for a backbreaker, Loco grabs him around the head and rolls through, putting Marion on his back. Stunned by the fact that Loco hit a reversal, Marion is slow in trying to get up, and Loco's the first to his feet. Sensing an opportunity, Loco does a forwards flip, landing his back down onto Marcus' chest. Getting right back to his feet, Loco does a backflip and lands chest down onto Marion. Mark Perletta: Loco Martinez with an impressive reversal and then an impressive set of flipping moves, and it looks like Marion's in trouble! As Marcus Marion struggles to get back to his feet, Loco runs towards the corner, hopping up to the top rope, his back to the middle of the ring, and he looks over his shoulder, watching Marion's progress. When he gets to his feet, Marcus looks over and spots Loco on the top rope, so he starts off in that direction, potentially looking to throw him down from the top rope. He only takes two steps, however, before Loco Martinez hops off the turnbuckle, flipping backwards, grabbing Marion by the head as he falls past him, taking him down to the mat. Mark Perletta: Loco hits the move he calls "That Warm And Fuzzy Feeling", and now it looks like he's heading to the corner for... Joey C: Isn't that... it's John Thomas! Wearing street clothes and a hat, John Thomas hops over the steel guardrail, grabs a chair and gets into the ring. Just as he gets to the corner, Loco spots John Thomas. After checking to see what's going on with Marcus Marion, who is still on the mat, Loco walks over towards John Thomas, who just slid into the ring with the chair in hand. Loco gets John's attention and points at the chair. Mark Perletta: It looks like Loco Martinez is asking John Thomas what he's doing there. Landon Savage: I think it's pretty obvious what John Thomas' intentions are. Mark Perletta: It's also obvious that Loco Martinez wasn't expecting to see John Thomas at the show tonight. I didn't see him backstage, it looked like he came in straight from the crowd. Joey C: It also looked like Loco Martinez wasn't happy to see John Thomas in that ring with that chair. After saying a few words to him, Loco convinces John Thomas not to attack Marcus Marion with the chair, as John takes one look at Marcus Marion, who is struggling to get up off the mat, and John tosses the chair out of the ring and starts to head towards the side of the ring near where the entrance stage is. Before he gets to the ropes, however, John turns around, sprints over, grabs Marion up off the mat, and before Loco even realizes what's going on, John spins Marcus around and DROPS him down to the mat with the sick falling neckbreaker drop he has used as his finisher in the past. Seeing John attack Marion, the referee immediately calls for the bell. Winner by DISQUALIFICATION : Marcus Marion Mark Perletta: After dropping Marion to the mat, John Thomas simply exited the ring and headed to the back. Landon Savage: The guy makes his "statement", letting the world know he wasn't just going to stand for what Marcus Marion did to him, and that's all he was here for, that's why he didn't stick around. Joey C: As things were going down, I wondered whether this sorta thing was planned between John Thomas and Loco Martinez, but when John Thomas didn't even stick around long enough to talk with Loco or even walk back up the ramp with him, it was obvious that Loco had no idea that was going to go down. Mark Perletta: Having put himself into a great spot to get a HUGE win over former World Champion, especially in a match that he challenged Marion to in order to get revenge FOR John Thomas, I don't think anyone was surprised that Loco Martinez had some questions for John. Backstage
Minutes after losing to Marcus Marion by disqualification, Loco Martinez walks through the hallways backstage, a confused but concerned look on his face. Not finding what he's looking for, Loco walks up to road agent Preston Thompkins. Loco Martinez: Did you see which way John Thomas went? Preston Thompkins: Yeah, he just walked through here, he went through that door. Loco pats Preston on the shoulder and then walks towards the door he pointed towards, and when he opens it, we see John Thomas get into a rental car. Loco picks up his pace, going a little faster than a jog now, but before he reaches the car, John drives off, leaving Loco confused and disappointed. Elsewhere Backstage
The camera goes backstage in the arena, and we see a door opening and quickly shutting. Emerging from the locker room is none other than the LEGACY Champion himself. Upon seeing him on the video screen the crowd roars in approval in the background. The Outlaw looks ready for battle, wrists taped, LEGACY title around his waist, and that intense look etched across his countenance. The Outlaw rounds the corner and as he does, standing in his path is his tag team partner, the No Limits Champion, Gryffin Anselm, with his own title over his shoulder. Greyson pulls up in acknowledgement of Anselm. The Outlaw: I was wondering when you’d be looking me up Gryffin. Greyson gives Anselm a bit of a smile, with that borderline sarcastic tone where the legitimacy of the statement is barely in question. Gryffin: I just keep all of my bases covered Greyson, you know this, and tonight is no exception. Before Anselm can continue or Blade can respond, Intern Avery George pipes up … Avery: Speaking of tonight, I wanted to get your thoughts on tonight’s match against Disorderly Youth. You both have quite the opportunity … Gryffin: You are damn right it’s an opportunity … Avery right? Tonight, Greyson and I have the chance to get our hands Connor McLellan and Dan Stein. Greyson, here, is going to give the fans just a little preview of what’s in store for Dan Stein next week, providing a little appetizer before the main course. And as far as Conor is concerned, he’s going to regret EVER hitting me with that chair, finishing what I started two weeks ago on that entrance ramp. The crowd cheers a bit at what Gryffin has to say, obviously in favor of seeing Greyson get into the ring with Stein and liking the idea of Gryffin taking out Conor McLellan. The Outlaw: Time is running out for both of them. Ever since Dan Stein first made it known that he wanted a shot at me for my belt with that initial chairshot, ever since he started this little war, I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to shut him up and that’s what’s going to happen next week. I’ve talked to the management here and they are going to make my match with Stein a No Holds Barred / No Interference match. Any move Dan Stein wants to do, it’s going to be legal. Any move I want to do, it’s going to be legal too. Greyson pauses very briefly to let it set in. The Outlaw: Front office decided that anyone who shows up at ringside to interfere in the match WILL be fired, no exceptions. So it’s just going to be Dan Stein and myself on-on-one without Conor or anyone else to bail him out. He’s going to take the beating he has coming to him, and unlike two weeks ago, he can try to walk out if he wants to, but if he wants this gold, he’s going to have to fight like a man, not the punk bitch with an attitude he’s become. Gryffin: It’s more than fitting for both of them to get their asses handed to them by the two best singles competitors in LEGACY today, and after tonight when we beat the former World Tag Team Champions, that makes us the number one contenders for the tag titles around the waist of Moxley and Cassidy. This comment draws a bit of a look from Greyson, who responds taken back a bit by the comment. Greyson: Tag Titles huh? Tell you what, tonight I’m just going to be focussed on kicking the shit out of the Disorderly Youth, and then I’m switching over my focus to shutting Dan Stein’s mouth in our match for the LEGACY Title. Focused, Anselm, which is exactly what you claimed I needed to be when you took that No Limits Title from me just a few months ago. Well I’m focused now Gryffin … on the LEGACY World Title and those two asshats. Gryffin gives him a bit of a nod, but there is a hint of dissatisfaction in his voice with Blade’s answer… Gryffin: Hey, you don’t want to go after the tag titles with me because you want to focus on that World Title over your shoulder, then that’s all well and good, I can respect that. Just so long as your decision not to go after those tag belts with me isn’t anything personal… then we’re all good. Greyson nods slightly, understanding where Gryffin’s coming from. Greyson: Nothing personal, but with all the people I’ve got gunning for me, I need to focus on keeping this thing right here. Greyson taps the championship belt on his shoulder, and Anselm reads Greyson’s tone of voice and expression on his face and is satisfied with the sincerity he’s sensing. Gryffin: Good enough, let’s go out there and kick those two kids around, shall we? Greyson chuckles and nods his head. Greyson: Let’s. Greyson and Gryffin both walk off camera and the view switches down to the ringside area. Greyson & Gryffin vs Disorderly Youth
Mark Perletta: This match didn't wait for the opening bell to get started, as all four men started battling it out right away, Greyson Blade and Dan Stein trading punches, and Gryffin Anselm and Conor McLellan going at it. Landon Savage: Gryffin Anselm getting the easy advantage over the much smaller Conor McLellan, whose punches don't carry as much weight, and at that point Anselm just throws Conor under the bottom rope to the outside and then exits to the apron, letting Blade and Dan Stein go at it. Joey C: Anselm doing what he knows Blade would want him to do, letting him go at it one on one with Dan Stein, but things didn't exactly end up that way, with Conor McLellan getting BACK into the ring and working over Greyson Blade, making it a temporary two-on-one. Mark Perletta: Gryffin Anselm got back into the ring as soon as he saw what was going on, but the damage had already been done to Greyson Blade, and by that point, once Gryffin clotheslined Conor down to the mat, Dan Stein was able to leave Greyson Blade on the mat on the other side of the ring and he ran over and laid into Gryffin Anselm with a forearm shot. At that poin the referee got control of the match and moved Gryffin Anselm out to the apron and then moved Conor McLellan out to his corner, but not before Conor ran over and laid into Greyson Blade with another hard kick to the back. Joey C: That's all the advantage that Dan Stein needed to take control of this match, and take control of it he did, working over the World Champion with move after move, keeping him on the mat and in a neutral corner, nowhere near making the tag in to Gryffin. Mark Perletta: Greyson Blade's a tough guy, though, and after taking some abuse for a few more minutes, Blade was able to block a frankensteiner attempt by Dan Stein and sent him hard into the top corner turnbuckle with a make-shift powerbomb type move. Joey C: Unluckily for Greyson the corner he sent Dan Stein into was the corner where Conor McLellan was waiting, which allowed the Disorderly Youth to make the tag. Once in the ring, Conor went toe to toe with Greyson and actually took him down to one knee, but after blocking a kick, Greyson was able to slam Conor down to the mat, this time over near his own corner where Gryffin Anselm was waiting to get into the match. Mark Perletta: From there the team of Gryffin and Greyson really took over the match for the most part, working together, making relatively quick tags and keeping Conor from making the tag in to Dan Stein. Conor did get in some offense, but every time it looked like he would get the opportunity to make the tag, he'd be in the wrong part of the ring to do so and get caught back up before he could get there by Greyson Blade. Their strategy was working until late in the match... Start : Footage from the Match Conor McLellan comes off the ropes with a tremendous amount of momentum and Greyson Blade picks him up off of his feet, turns over and sends him down HARD into the mat with a spinebuster! Knowing that Gryffin would want to get back into the match, Blade walks over and tags in Anselm and the two trade places. Anselm walks over to Conor and stomps down on him twice before attempting to pick him up, but as he does Conor sends an uppercut right in between his opponent's legs, doubling him over, then grabbing him by the head and sending him down to the mat with a DDT. Mark Perletta: Not a legal move by any stretch of the imagination, but the low blow works to buy Conor McLellan some time, hopefully for him it'll be enough time to make the tag in to Dan Stein that he so desperately needs here. Joey C: Who cares whether it was legal or not, it was effective, and in this sport, that's all that really matters. Conor didn't get disqualified for it, so it doesn't matter. What does matter is that Gryffin Anselm is on the mat and Conor is about to make the tag in to the man who next week WILL become the World Champion. As Conor McLellan crawls across the ring to try to make the tag, Dan Stein just watches from the apron, a somewhat apathetic look on his face, not concerned at all by whether or not Conor was going to get there. As Conor got to the corner and then got up onto his knees and reached out to make the tag, Dan Stein hopped backwards off of the ring apron, a smirk on his face. Joey C: What the hell? Mark Perletta: It looks as though Dan Stein is giving Conor McLellan a little payback for deserting him, or attempting to, during their last match as World Tag Team Champions. Stein backs up slowly, just watching as Conor remains in the ring with Gryffin Anselm, not even trying to get involved again in the match. Back in the ring Gryffin grabs Conor McLellan from behind and slams his forearm hard into his back, knocking him down to the mat. Picking him up again, Gryffin tosses Conor up onto his shoulders into a fireman's carry position, then turns towards the center of the ring and whips him off, sending him down to the mat onto the back of his neck and shoulders into a Michinoku Driver. Landon Savage: That's the Devastator, this is going to be it! Gryffin makes the cover... ONE! TWO!! THREE!!! Winner by PINFALL : Greyson Blade and Gryffin Anselm Landon Savage: Another impressive victory here in LEGACY for Gryffin Anselm. Mark Perletta: He has been on quite a roll, but don't forget about the fact that the LEGACY World Champion was his tag team partner this week. Landon Savage: That he was but after the match we got a little more insight into that situation when Gryffin Anselm got on the mic. Let's check it out. New Challengers
With Dan Stein already backstage and Conor McLellan headed there, Greyson Blade exited the ring. Instead of following him, Gryffin Anselm walked over to the corner of the ring and asked for a mic. Gryffin Anselm: About a year ago, I did something that I was really proud of, despite how it was seen by some of the critics who make their living reporting on what goes on in this ring despite never getting in it themselves. About a year ago, I had the Midwest Title over my shoulder and then I went on to win the World Tag Team Titles, draging a guy named Paul Jarvis kicking and screaming the entire way. I took that guy who had never amounted to a damn thing in his life and I made him worth a damn. I took a jobber with a huge amount of talent, I helped mold him and shape him and I turned him into not only a superstar in this business, but I turned him into a great tag team partner. Together he and I defeated one of the best tag team pairings in the history of our business, the Beautiful People, for the World Tag Team Championships. Gryffin starts pacing around the ring. Gryffin Anselm: I've never been a fan of one guy holding two singles championships, causing him to split his attention between defending two seperate but similar championships. Earlier tonight, just before this match, Greyson Blade said that he wanted to keep his focus on the World Title and didn't care to go after the World Tag Team Titles. He claims it's because he doesn't want to split his attention between two championships, but frankly I think it's partially because he's got a soft spot for those Nerds who currently have the belts. Luckily enough, I don't have either of those problems. I'm not worried about whether I have what it takes to be a successful singles champion while also being one-half of the tag team champions, and I'm sure as hell not worried about whether Moxley and Cassidy have championship gold around their waist. Anselm starts pointing down at the mat. Gryffin Anselm: What you all saw here in the match tonight, the way I see it, beating the former World Tag Team Champions gives me a decent claim to a shot at the Nerds and their championship belts. Only problem is that since Greyson doesn't want to go after the Tag belts, I needed to find myself a partner, and for anyone who knows anything about me, I think it's obvious who that partner's going to be. Anselm smirks. Gryffin Anselm: So here's the scoop, folks: James Win, The All Star, the guy who I trust the most in this business, a guy who compliments me inside this ring as a tag team partner better than Paul Jarvis or Greyson Blade could, we're going to become World Tag Team Champions. I've got a title defense next week with my No Limits Division belt on the line, a match I fully intend on winning as I continue to reign over a division that I helped start... After that match, after the show in Montreal on the 24th is in the books, James Win and I are going after those tag team titles. Turning towards the time keeper's table, Gryffin tosses the mic over the top rope, one of the ring attendants barely able to catch it as it hits him in the chest. Gryffin leaves the ring to a mixed reaction from the fans and heads up the ramp, the camera cutting backstage. Burning
Stein stands in the backstage hallway where he kicks over a box before yelling out loud, venting his frustration. Just as the box tumbles over, Smith Cartwright walks out of the men's room, just into Stein's sight. Stein jumps over the fallen box, wrapping his hands into Smith's blazer and throws him against the wall. Dan Stein: You want a fucking story, Smith? You want a story you can tell your kids about? Stein burns a hole deep into the eyes of Smith Cartwright with a silent stare. Dan Stein: Hows about this: Dan Stein fatally injures Greyson Blade after Greyson runs his mouth. Huh, Smith? You like that? Stein pauses, but only for a moment. Dan Stein: How about this: Dan Stein becomes LEGACY Champion after Greyson Blade breaks his neck in the last match of his career?" Stein looks at Smith, a glare in his eyes. Dan Stein: "You see, Smith, Greyson didn't 'make this match happen'. He was not the only Bastard trying to get a match like this done. No. Because me, I, your NEXT. HEAVYWEIGHT. CHAMPION. I wanted this match since day one of Greyson's title reign. I wanted to shut that fucking old CUNT up. I wanted to make him see what he'd become, in OPW, and in TTW… and now LEGACY. That's why I did what I did. That's why he ended up on his back. That's why I have been poking. A very small pause from Stein. Dan Stein: And prodding. And KICKING my way through the front office... Begging... Pleading... Giving verbal blow jobs to the men up front… trying to get this match... and now Greyson wants to take credit for making it happen? Stein slowly starts to shake his head in disbelief. Dan Stein: They want to make him feel good. He wants to think he's king shit in this federation? He's got that belt, he can think that. But Greyson Blade... Stein looks at the camera. Dan Stein: You're a shell of your former self, the guy I saw back in DIWF, and I'm going to prove it to you. You will bleed. Your bones will break. A weird look forms in Dan's eyes, like he is excited about the idea. Dan Stein: You will ache… You will moan. I will do everything. Anything. Deadly… Suicidal… Even homicidal… To take that belt from you. To take your pride from you. To realize what it means, Greyson. To be the thing that you've lost the ability to become. A smirk starts to form on Stein's face as he makes people wait. Dan Stein: Heartless. Stein looks at Smith. Dan Stein: "Now the real fun begins." Dan Stein walks off and the view switches over to the recap position for the final time tonight. Mark Perletta: Some pretty strong words there from the current Number One Contender to the LEGACY World Title, and it sounds like he's really determined to not only take the World Title from Greyson Blade, but he also wants to hurt him, too. Joey C: It's a much different Dan Stein that we're seeing lately, a more sadistic and determined Dan Stein... Landon Savage: And a much more successful Dan Stein that he ever was before. Mark Perletta: He did have the win in the second Sky High Cup before this change of attitude, but I can't think of any World Title shots he had back then, so maybe it's working out for him. Doesn't mean that I or any of the fans have to like the new Dan Stein, but he's free to act however he likes. Landon Savage: The World Title really is what it's all about, and Dan has to go after it as hard as he can and win it at any cost, because he's hardly the only one going after it. Mark Perletta: Well after tonight he won't even be the only guy with a guaranteed shot at the belt, with our next match, tonight's main event, putting Stephen Rawlings in a match against Katsuro Yoshida, a Submission Match giving the winner their shot in the future. Joey C: Just to make something perfectly clear, here. I talked to the front office after I heard that Greyson and Stein were going to be fighting next week with the belt on the line. I asked them if there were ANY reason why that match might end up being anything other than Dan Stein against Greyson Blade, and they assured me that it won't be. The view then changes to a view of the ring, with the details of our next and final match on the screen. Number One Contender Match - World Title
Submissions Match Stephen Rawlings vs Katsuro Yoshida Mark Perletta: As this thing got under way, Stephen Rawlings and Katsuro Yoshida started things off slowly, sizing one another up. Each man tried to get things going, trying to be the first to get the advantage, but the first two times each of them tried, the other was able to evade the attempt. Landon Savage: Stephen Rawlings was really lucky to evade Yoshida's second attempt, nearly getting kicked in the face in the process. Mark Perletta: Right after nearly getting kicked in the face, Rawlings was able to lock up with Katsuro, getting the first offensive of the match, and this week, unlike two weeks ago, Rawlings took a more traditional American approach, suplexing Yoshida down to the mat a few times and then locking him into a few submission holds, locking on a different one each time Katsuro broke free from one of them. Landon Savage: Don't over-state it, Perletta, Rawlings locked on a series of three different submissions, and Yoshida got out of each one of them, and after getting out of the third one, he made a smart move by exiting the ring to the outside, slowing down the pace of the match. Joey C: And if he knew what was good for him, Stephen Rawlings would've pushed to try to keep the momentum up, because by letting Katsuro slow the momentum down, that gave Yoshida not only a chance to get back into the ring, but it gave him an opportunity that he made the most of, taking control of the match. Mark Perletta: And just as we saw from him in his previous two matches in LEGACY, Katsuro Yoshida used his knowledge of martial arts to get control of things, but after he did that, he really went to work on the head and upper shoulder area of Stephen Rawlings with not only kicks and other strikes, but also with some interesting submission holds. Landon Savage: Anyone who thought that Katsuro Yoshida was going to accept this match and NOT be ready for a Submissions Match was crazy. This guy is a consumate professional, one of the greatest wrestlers to come out of Japan in quite a long time, and he's not just going to sign up for a match of this magnitude without knowing that he could win it. Joey C: More than one person told me this week that they thought Stephen Rawlings was just going to walk away with this win and the guaranteed title shot without breaking much of a sweat, but I can guarantee you that Rawlings broke a sweat before the match was three minutes in. Mark Perletta: And it was a hard-fought match the entire way through, both men controlling things under their own individual styles, Rawlings not trying to completely dip into his martial arts roots, although we did see some of that from Rawlings. Joey C: How about mentioning the submission skills and mat wrestling we saw from Katsuro Yoshida, shouldn't we mention that, too? Landon Savage: I'd dare say that Katsuro Yoshida is a better mat wrestler than Stephen Rawlings is at martial arts. The people who doubted the abilities of the Bushido Buntai member aren't doubting them much anymore, not if they've got a clue.. Start : Footage from the Match Dropping down to one knee after a hard right hand, Katsuro propels himself up off the mat, sending a hard knife-edge shot to the throat of Stephen Rawlings, backing him up a step. Yoshida gets to his feet and turns and nails Rawlings in the gut with a roundhouse kick, backing him into the corner. Yoshida then lifts his foot and puts it right into Stephen's throat, keeping him back in the corner, choking him. Mark Perletta: Nice flexibility there by Katsuro Yoshida, and he's choking out Stephen Rawlings! Landon Savage: Wait, what the hell is he doing now?! Holding on to the top rope, Katsuro Yoshida hops up and wraps his legs around the neck and one arm of Stephen Rawlings, and then he shoves off the ropes and pulls Rawlings down to the mat in something of a frankensteiner, holding on and rolling through, locking Stephen into a submission hold. Rawlings tries as hard as he can to fight it, and he first turns himself around enough to get his knees underneath him. From there, Rawlings locks his hands together and works with all his might, first getting one foot underneath of him, Yoshida's legs still wrapped around his neck. Mark Perletta: Stephen Rawlings fighting back, but can he do it? Can he break the hold?! Joey C: I don't know, Yoshida's got that hold locked on there pretty tight... Lifting as hard as he can, Rawlings gets Katsuro up off the mat about four feet and he immediately slams him back-first into the mat, not quite hitting a powerbomb due to the lack of intensity, but the impact is hard enough to jar Katsuro's grip, allowing Stephen Rawlings to pull his head away. Keeping his hands locked together, Rawlings steps over, locking Katsuro Yoshida into a Texas Cloverleaf. Mark Perletta: Stephen Rawlings turning things around and now he's got Katsuro Yoshida locked into another submission, and this doesn't look good for the Bushido Buntai member's chances... Joey C: He's not going to give up, Marky. Mark Perletta: Struggle as he might, it doesn't look like Katsuro is going to be able get out of the hold, Stephen having it locked in right there in the middle of the ring, and he has it locked in good... The referee continues to check to see if Katsuro Yoshida is going to want to give up, but his consciousness starts to fade. When Yoshida no longer responds to the referee's inquiry, the ref takes Katsuro's arm and lifts it up for the first time...and it drops!! The fans start cheering a bit and then the ref takes Katsuro's arm and lifts it up for the second time... AND AGAIN IT FALLS!!! The intensity of the reaction picks up even more, and for a third time, the referee lifts Yoshida's arm, and he holds it there momentarily before letting it go.... AND IT FALLS FOR A THIRD TIME! KATSURO YOSHIDA IS OUT COLD!! THE REFEREE CALLS FOR THE BELL AND THE FANS GO CRAZY!!! Winner by SUBMISSION : Stephen Rawlings Mark Perletta: Stephen Rawlings has done it! Stephen Rawlings has defeated Katsuro Yoshida and has earned himself a guaranteed shot at the World Title!! Joey C: Even though Katsuro Yoshida never actually submitted, the rules states that a submission can be counted if a competitor loses consciousness, and so Rawlings is the winner here tonight. Landon Savage: He'll have to wait at least one edition of STRIFE before using his guaranteed World Title shot because next week, it's going to be Greyson Blade defending the LEGACY World Title against Dan Stein in a No Holds Barred match. Mark Perletta: That's not even to mention the 30 Minute Iron Man Match between Nicholas Creed and Jack Henderson... Joey C: Or the No Limits Championship Match between Tim Jones and the man who has the belt in his possession at this time, Gryffin Anselm! Mark Perletta: All that and more when LEGACY returns to the air with another edition of STRIFE on a new night, Monday, July 24th from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. That's it for this week, folks, we'll see you next time!! |
