The LEGACY Tour logo shows up on a black screen and it fades out as "Awake" by Godsmack starts to play, and clips from the past two weeks replace it. The first clip is from last week, highlighting moments from the match between The Odd Cousins and The Revenge of the Nerds. The final clip shown is of Chris Turner handing one of the World Tag Titles to Stephen Rawlings and Turner lifting the belt high into the air. That is followed by clips from John Thomas' matches with both Mike Dexter and Tim Jones, followed by a shot of John Thomas lifting the World Television Title up as he stands on the second turnbuckle. Clips from the match between VooDoo and Creed are shown next, ending with shots of Cronos interfering in the match, brawling a bit with each of the two men involved, and then escaping. The clips that follow are from the National Title match in which Gryffin Anselm slugged it out against an already injured Greyson Blade. A clip of Marcus Marion hitting Greyson in the head with the World Heavyweight Championship preceeds a clip of Gryffin picking up the win and being given the National Title. A still shot of Gryffin standing over Greyson with the belt in hand is shown, and then fades out into a black and white shot of Chivalric watching high above the ring from the rafters. A clip of Dan Stein standing in front of a black backdrop is shown, followed by a shot of Jimmy Smith entering a LEGACY arena for the first time. A clip is shown from when John Page was victorious against Logan Caine, and is then followed up by a shot of Creed backstage talking to John Thomas, setting up their match for tonight. From there a shot of Jake Dominion in the middle of the LEGACY ring is shown, and that is followed by the last image we see before the show officially opens: Marcus Marion standing in the middle of the ring with the World Heavyweight Championship belt over his shoulder, grinning from ear to ear, Susan and Nicole standing behind him on either side. TONIGHT'S CARD
The show opens on a shot of Mark Perletta and Joey C sitting behind a desk that resembles what you would see anchors sit behind in the studio of a sports news program such as Sports Center. Behind them is an elaborate backdrop which includes the LEGACY Tour logo. Mark Perletta: Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm Mark Perletta, this is my broadcast partner Joey C, and as you can see, our settings are a little different this week. Joey C: Let's cut right to it, Marky, the front office decided that in order to fit into the time restraints we've been forced into on this new network that we're on, that instead of doing the show live, this week we're doing a Shockwave recap show. Mark Perletta: Now while this isn't our ideal situation as we're sure it's not exactly what all of you are used to or hoping for when you tune in to LEGACY Tour programing, this is what the front office feels we have to do in order to fit everything from Shockwave in to the time-slot we've been given. And yes, as Joey just mentioned, we are on a new television network this week. Last week was our last week on HBO, and now we're FX. Joey C: And what does that mean, exactly? Well now we're on a network where people don't have to pay a premium each month to even RECEIVE that channel. Sure, for a person to have FX they have to have Cable TV, but they don't have to subscribe to FX, so really it's no different than WWE being on USA or TNA being on SPIKE TV. Mark Perletta: Viewership for the LEGACY Tour should go up due to the regular cable network that is now carrying LEGACY Tour shows, we have to have some commercial advertising during our shows, and the timeslot we're given on a weekly basis is shorter, but all in all, I think this is a change for the better. Joey C: And let's be honest, Marky. FX is a pretty damn good network to be a part of. Yeah, HBO has the Sopranos, they have Deadwood, whatever... FX has some great shows of its own, including my favorite show on TV... The Shield. Mark Perletta: I haven't seen all of the episodes of The Shield, but the ones I've seen I've really enjoyed. Having to promote products and programing that you enjoy, that makes it all the easier to do, especially since you WANT people to watch these shows. You WANT them to enjoy the same shows that you're enjoying, so with that said, I'm not bothered by having advertisements like the ones we have coming up the next couple of weeks for other shows on FX, because really it's no different than when I talk to my friends and family about these shows in my free time.
Joey C: There have been a lot of changes now that this organization is owned by Rob Belote, but transition periods always feel a little weird, so for any of you who aren't sure what to think, I urge you to just give it a shot. What's one hour out of your week? If you like it, then whatever, you probably still enjoyed sitting around watching the LEGACY Tour Shockwave than you would've at work or at school or doing chores or whatever. Mark Perletta: I think once the initial shock of how things have changed now with this recap format, people will realize that the core of the LEGACY Tour product hasn't changed. The in-ring action is still there, though now we rely on video recaps to highlight the high spots in the matches and to show you basically how a match went down. We do that to save time and to keep the show as fast paced as possible. What we try not to cut back are the backstage or in-ring segments between LEGACY Tour Superstars, which we feel are a very important part of the show. Joey C: One thing we should point out is that, while the weekly Shockwaves are in a new format, the pay per views are supposedly going to be the same format as people are used to seeing. Mark Perletta: We've got some great action yet to come tonight, something we can say honestly, since this is a recap show and we've seen what all went down on Shockwave already when we were there live. Our Main Event tonight is a Sky High Exhibition match where Stephen Rawlings will get into the ring against Dan Stein to give the fans just a taste of what Sky High is all about. From what I do understand, however, this does not mean that either Dan Stein or Stephen Rawlings will be involved in the Sky High Match at Rise of the Elite 3. They might be, they might not be, but since both Stein and Rawlings were integral parts of the second Sky High Cup. Joey C: Another match we have here tonight is a tag match where Tim Jones and a partner will get into the ring against John Page and a partner. Mark Perletta: Well when John Page was notified of this match, he immediately stated that LEGACY World Heavyweight Champion Marcus Marion would be his partner for this week to take on Page's former "Team Handsome" tag team partner Tim Jones. Joey C: Though we don't have footage of it, when Tim Jones showed up at the arena tonight, he was notified that Page had picked Marcus Marion as his tag partner, and Jones then stated that he wanted Greyson Blade as his tag team partner. Mark Perletta: Well as we learned just before that match was to begin, there was a slight alteration needed regarding the participants in that match, but we'll get to that when the tag match rolls around. Our first match of the night is the match that was set up last week when Creed told John Thomas that he was being too soft by giving Television Title shots to guys like Tim Jones. Joey C: John Thomas accepted the challenge and coming up next, you'll get to see whether Creed was able to take the World Television Title home with him, or if John Thomas was able to successfully defend it for yet another week.
WORLD TELEVISION TITLE
MATCH
"SIN" Nicholas Creed vs John Thomas (c) Mark Perletta: Folks, this match was a great one from the opening bell. It started off with Nicholas Creed as the aggressor, but John Thomas did a good job on the defensive, and soon thereafer John Thomas took control. Joey C: He didn't have it for long though, and for the next couple of minutes, the match really went back and forth. Mark Perletta: Well when John Thomas got control of the offensive, in typical John Thomas fashion, he went to work on Creed's shoulder. Joey C: Creed fought back well, though, give him credit where credit is due. Amidst John Thomas using armdrag takeovers, armbars, and a high flipping dropkick to the shoulder, Creed was getting his shots in from time to time. Mark Perletta: That he was, and there was one spot in the match that we're about to show you, and to be honest, if I had final say, I wouldn't have included this as one of the moments from that match that we're going to show you due to its violent content, but the front office has final say, so here it goes. Grabbing John around the head, Creed pulls Thomas towards him and nails him in the gut with a knee-lift that doubles him over. Locking John into a front headlock, Creed then hit John with two more knee-lifts to the gut, and then grabbed John by the head and rammed his knee into John's face three times before letting John drop down to the mat. When the camera zoomed in on John's face as he lay on the mat, you could see the blood coming from Thomas' nose. Joey C: I thought the match was going to be over at that point, but John convinced the referee to keep the match going, and that's where things got a bit more violent. Mark Perletta: At that point we saw a side of John Thomas that we rarely see, as he came right back at Creed, pummelling him with fists, half of which Creed was blocking, and then John took the action to the outside. Joey C: That's a move I'm betting he's regretting, because once they were on the outside, aside from ramming Creed shoulder-first into the ring post, Thomas was the one who took most of the abuse. Mark Perletta: After sending John Thomas into the steel guardrail back-first a few times and then into the steel ring steps, Creed sent Thomas back into the ring, where ultimately this match would be decided. Joey C: I thought it was done for John at that point, especially when Creed hit two backbreakers in a row and then tried to break John's back over his knee with a brutal submission lock, but John didn't give up, and I was actually amazed, because John fought back and got into the match. Mark Perletta: After blocking a couple punches by SIN and retaliating with two hard shots of his own, John was able to hit rolling armdrag takeovers, and after that... take a look. John Thomas picks Creed up off the mat, hammers down on his shoulder, then hoists him up over his shoulder and immediately sends Creed's shoulder crashing down onto his knee with a shoulder breaker. With SIN on the mat, John Thomas wasted no time in walking over and climbing to the top rope, and then without looking, John Thomas leaped backwards and came crashing down hard onto Creed with the NOT YOUR AVERAGE MOONSAULT, and as he did, the fans started going crazy. Mark Perletta: Despite being outweighed by about a hundred pounds by Nicholas Creed, John Thomas was able to continue to work on Creed with that shoulder breaker, which, unlike a typical shoulder breaker, John didn't hold Creed up on his shoulder for any length of time, so it was more like a snap shoulder breaker, which I think might've put more impact on the shoulder joint itself. Then when John Thomas followed up the shoulder breaker and he hit his signature moonsault, things were looking up for him. Joey C: At that point John Thomas sensed that the end was near, and so lets watch the end of the match as it plays out. Grabbing Creed by the arm, John twists him around into a standing armbar and then he lifts Nicholas to his feet. He then walks over, Creed in tow, towards the corner, where he starts to ascend the turnbuckles, and the crowd's excitement level starts to grow as they think they're about to see the NEW SCHOOL. As he gets one of his feet on the second turnbuckle, however, Creed pulls John back down, and as soon as John's feet hit the mat, Creed twists John around and locks him into a full nelson. Creed tried to pull Thomas back towards the middle of the ring, but John Thomas fought it, despite the height advantage of Creed, John was able to reach out with his foot and hook it on the ropes momentarily. The referee didn't see John's foot on the rope, and consequently didn't break the hold. Once "SIN" Nicholas Creed was able to pull John's foot off the ropes and move two feet further away from the ropes, he lifted John Thomas up into the air with the full nelson, let go with one hand, pivoted around, and then jumped slightly and all in one motion went from the full nelson lock into a Rock Bottom type slam. Mark Perletta: The move that Creed calls the REIGN OF SIN, Creed hooks John Thomas by the leg and gets the three count, and in the process, the World Television Title. Joey C: Creed with his biggest accomplishment so far in this organization after being here, what, six months. He's a big scary guy, and I'm sure there are a lot of people backstage who aren't looking forward to having opportunities to fight Creed on a weekly basis. Mark Perletta: John Thomas is a world class athlete and a dangerous competitor who has beaten some of the best in our business, but he's not a large and imposing figure like Creed is, who is cut out of the same mold as guys like Gryffin Anselm and Greyson Blade. Joey C: Following this match might be my favorite thing I've seen in the three weeks thus far of the LEGACY Tour.
BACKSTAGE
The camera cuts backstage where we see Herbert J. Moxley and D.J. Cassidy standing next to each other. They're both looking at the man standing six feet away from them, Conor McLellan, who has a big smirk on his face. Conor McLellan: You guys look different. No.. wait. What's missing? Your pride? No that's not it. Um, you're maturity? Never existed. Or maybe it's puberty? Conor then pretends like he JUST realized something, but it's obvious that this was his intended jab at them the entire time. Conor McLellan: OH! The belts. Yeah, good going. Seriously, you two fucking geniuses. Now a psychopath and a flower-fucker are the champions... but I can't really complain seeing as who the former champs were, though.. right? D.J. Cassidy jumps in the direction of Conor McLellan but Herb holds and arm across DJ's chest. Moxley: Hold friend! Dispatching of this wretch will prove nothing. Herb looks to Conor with a smirk and continuies talking to DJ. Moxley: Clearly Mr McLellen is upset he no longer is in the foster care of one Johnny Johnson and therefore has no one to change his diapers. Besides - we shouldn't let his feeble words harm us, seeing that he never once even came close to holding a title. Conor McLellan: Oh.. and Cassidy, get in my face again? Having lost those belts will be the least of your worries. Out of the corner of his eye, Moxley notices Dan Stein walking down the hallway, and his eyes light up. Stein approaches the three men and before he can say anything, Moxley starts right in. Moxley: Hey Cass Look!! It's our buddy Dan Stein!! Herbert waves to Dan. Moxley: How's it going Lights??!! I haven't seen you since before things turned upside down around here. Dude, I am like THIS close to getting Jen X to go out with me - it's all thanks to you and your tricks of the trade. Stein smiles weakly at Herbert. Moxley: And I've been meaning to talk to you about your match with Rawling's tonight- Stein stops him mid sentence. Dan Stein: Whoa, hold up, there, Herbie J. Thanks for the offer, but as far as my match tonight with Stephen Rawlings... Moxley looks excited and he interrupts Stein. Moxley: Your Main Event Sky High Exhibition Match! Dan nods and continues. Dan Stein: Herb... little man... I got this. Rawlings... nah. You're looking at the Sky High champion. You're looking at the guy that defined what it means to be the best light-heavyweight in LEGACY, before LEGACY even came about. Oh... and if you see her... tell Jenny that I need my boxers back, Mox. I forgot them over at her place last night. Silly me.. Without another word, Stein walks over and pats Conor McLellan on the shoulder and tips his head to the side, and the two walk down the hallway, leaving Moxley in shock, with Cassidy watching them walk away before turning to his tag team partner and friend to make sure he's okay. Mark Perletta: A bit of a surprise there with how short Dan Stein was with a man who I thought he considered a friend. Joey C: Short? How about HONEST, Marky. That's what Dan Stein was. I've seen the way Jen X acts around Moxley, and it's obvious to me that she's not interested. She's nice to the guy out of common courtesy, and suddenly Nerd Boy thinks she's in love! Mark Perletta: I was starting to think that Jen X might be interested in Moxley, too, but I guess my radar was way off, and correct me if I'm wrong, but at the end of that video clip, was Dan Stein walking down the hallway talking to Conor McLellan? Joey C: Hey, just because the Nerds had a problem with the New Circus a month ago doesn't mean that Dan Stein and Conor McLellan can't be friends.
SLIGHT CHANGE IN PLAN
Mark Perletta: Last week we mentioned that we were going to start showing old footage from TTW shows on a weekly basis in part of an effort to try to pay tribute to what we all considered to be a great organization. Due to a couple of different factors, we're unable to start that this week. Joey C: Maybe once the FX network gives us more than just a one-hour timeslot, we'd have more time to show old matches, but for now, that's one thing standing in our way. Mark Perletta: The other thing standing in the way is access to the footage. Now I won't go into all the details, but basically the only access we currently have to old TTW match footage are from some of the pay per view events of the past two years. While some of the best matches took place on those events, we were hoping to show footage from the build to those feuds to give some historical background, and the front office feels like without that footage, they can't do justice to the matches and the feuds behind them. Joey C: We'll keep looking into the situation and we'll try and find out exactly what's going on with the access to the Shockwave footage, but for now, it looks like it doesn't matter, because we don't have enough time to devote to showing old matches anyway. Mark Perletta: Back to the action in the arena, not five minutes after his match against Creed was done in the ring, John Thomas found himself in another predicament backstage. Take a look. BACKSTAGE
Walking back to his locker room, John Thomas is visibly upset after having lost the LEGACY World Television Title. His head slightly hanging down as he's disappointed in himself, he doesn't even notice as he walks past Eric Wolfson, who is having a conversation with Jake Dominion at the time. Seeing John, Wolfson points him out to Dominion and the two chuckle, and Wolfson decides to have a little fun. Eric Wolfson: Hey John, just wanted to congratulate you on your match. John Thomas continues walking, pretending not to hear Wolfson, though it's obvious he did. Wolfson isn't discouraged by John ignoring him, and he continues. Eric Wolfson: It should be a comforting thought to know that you will always be remembered... as the guy who guy who gave Creed his first championship. You're helping to make him famous. Wolfson and Dominion get a good laugh out of that, but John's not amused, and he's had about enough. He turns and walks right up to an unsuspecting Wolfson and gets in his face. The two lock eyes and Dominion tries to get between them. Jake Dominion: Calm down there, champ. Nothing you can do about it now. You already lost the belt. Gettin' all up in Eric's face, that's only going to get you an ass beatin'... and you already had one of those tonight. John doesn't even look at Dominion. John Thomas: Shut your mouth, pretty boy. Wolfson lets out a little chuckle and that's all it takes, John Thomas shoves him back. Dominion steps in to push John away, and John turns and shoves Dominion backwards. As John goes to look back at Wolfson, Jake Dominion steps in and nails Thomas in the jaw with a superkick. Jake Dominion: Know your place, chump. Realize that you can't just say or do whatever you want. We're not some chumps, Johnny Boy. You don't mess with us. Come on, Eric, this guy needs some alone time. Wolfson pats Dominion on the shoulder and the two walk off down the corridor. Mark Perletta: This situation didn't just end here, though. Later on in the show this situation came up again, but more on that when we get there. Joey C: For now we need to keep things rolling along, what with the short timeslot and all. Our next match involves the World Champion in action, so lets get down to the ring for a tag team match that a lot of people were looking forward to.
Tim Jones & ?? vs John
Page & Marcus Marion
Mark Perletta: John Page was the first one announced for this matchup, and just as he had stated, the World Heavyweight Champion was his tag team partner for the match. Joey C: Now I know YOU weren't a fan of High Society, but there's no denying that those guys were really starting to carve their spot, so why wouldn't these two team up this week? Mark Perletta: Well with Tim Jones as a former member of High Society, I'm sure he was pleased to get the opportunity to get his hands on both John Page AND Marcus Marion, and when he made his entrance next, you could see the fire in his eyes. Joey C: Well at that point he thought he was going to have Greyson Blade as his partner for the match. Mark Perletta: Judging by the fans reaction, so did they. Take a look at what went down. As soon as Tim Jones got to the bottom of the ramp and waited for his tag team partner, The crowd starts a chant of "GREYSON! GREYSON! GREYSON!" hoping for the Outlaw to come out. Instead, however, Smith Cartwright walks out from the back with a mic in hand, and the chant quiets down. Smith Cartwright: Due to what he endured on April 20th and 27th, doctors have declared Greyson Blade once again not medically cleared for tonight's show. With that in mind, the LEGACY Tour front office asked Greyson not to be here tonight, and as of a few minutes ago, he had still not shown up to the best of my knowledge. The fans start booing as they hear that Greyson isn't going to be coming out to the ring. Smith Cartwright: HOWEVER... NEXT WEEK... Greyson Blade WILL be cleared to wrestle... he WILL be in attendance at Shockwave... and he WILL FACE Marcus Marion with the LEGACY World Heavyweight Championship ON THE LINE!!! The fans go absolutely ballistic when they hear the news, and the roof nearly blows off of the arena. As he hears the news, Marion looks distraught, and Page tries to calm him down. Smith Cartwright: Because there was a mistake backstage and the person Tim Jones talked to about who he wanted as his partner for tonights match didn't know that Greyson Blade was not going to be in attendance, we had to pick a tag team partner for him. The front office talked and we picked a man who we felt like would get along with Tim Jones due to them being so similar being something of a ladies man himself, so here he is... "Big" Jimmy Smith! Mark Perletta: Needless to say neither the fans nor Tim Jones were as happy to have Jimmy Smith as the fourth man in this match as they would've been to have Greyson Blade, but in his first match on the LEGACY Tour, Jimmy Smith did a darn fine job. Joey C: With John Page starting off the match, Tim Jones got things started for his team, and he made a key mistake that gave Page and Marion the early advantage. Mark Perletta: I don't know if you'd call it a mistake or not, but having such a heated history with High Society, Tim Jones wanted to take on both Marion and Page himself, and so he didn't tag in Jimmy Smith a couple times when he very easily could have, and because of it, Page and Marion were able to really use some team work to wear Jones down. Joey C: Without an ounce of patience, Jimmy Smith kept attempting to get into the ring, and on his third try he was able to avoid the referee just long enough to run across the ring and clothesline down John Page and knock Marion off of the apron. Mark Perletta: That was all the opening that Tim Jones needed, as he was able to take down John Page with a side suplex, and then he reached the corner and was able to make the tag in to Jimmy Smith. At that point Big Jimmy got right into the ring and went to work on John Page, and Smith and Jones were able to use team work at that point and kept Marion out of the match. Joey C: I don't know if team work is the right term for it. Tim Jones rested up on the outside as long as he needed, and then he called in to Jimmy to make the tag, and he got right back into the match. Mark Perletta: Well once Tim Jones was back in the ring, he did work Page over for a few minutes before Page hit him with a hard European Uppercut, which gave him just enough time to tag in Marcus Marion. Jones fought Marion tooth and nail before finding an opening and tagging Jimmy back into the match. Joey C: Surprisingly enough, when Jimmy Smith got into the ring he held his own against Marcus Marion and got in a decent amount of offense, but Marion is the World Champion for a reason, and so before Jimmy's stay in the ring was done, Marion was back on the offensive, and he got to tag in John Page. Mark Perletta: With Page in the ring, he nailed Jimmy with a few European Uppercuts, keeping Smith in the corner, but as the referee yelled at Page for using a closed fist with Jimmy holding on to the ropes, Smith was able to clothesline Page down to the mat and then tag in Tim Jones. Joey C: When Tim Jones got into the ring again, he was completely out of control, wildly going after Page with right hands and stomps, and a flying clothesline off of the ropes. Mark Perletta: Sensing that Tim Jones was in control of things, The World Champion took it upon himself to try to shift the momentum back for his team. Take a look. With John Page struggling to get up off the mat, Tim Jones positioned himself in a neutral corner, waiting for Page to get up, getting set to go for the SNAFU. Seeing what The Ladies Man had in mind, Marcus Marion got into the ring and walked halfway across the ring to start yelling at the referee and Tim Jones, and Jones argued for the ref to get Marion out of the ring. That minor distraction gave John Page just enough time to get an idea for what was going on, and when he got up to his feet and Tim Jones stepped in for the SNAFU, Page was able to step out of the way of the kick, and he grabbed Tim Jones around the waist and went for a German Suplex, which he bridged into a pinfall attempt. ONE!! TWO!! Tim Jones kicks out, and as John Page goes to continue in on the attack, Jimmy Smith gets into the ring, runs over and bulldogs Page down to the mat, much to the frustration of Marcus Marion on the outside. As Tim Jones rolled over and used the ropes to help him get to his feet faster, Marcus Marion ran down the apron and clotheslined Tim Jones down to the mat from the outside. Mark Perletta: With both men down inside the ring, each of them worked towards their respective corner, and almost simultaneously, they both were able to make the tag into their partners. Joey C: When Jimmy Smith and Marcus Marion met in the middle of the ring, I wasn't surprised at all that the World Champion took over, going right at Jimmy Smith's legs to slow him down. Mark Perletta: It wasn't over for Big Jimmy at that point, though, as Jimmy was able to mount a comeback, and after an atomic drop followed directly by a belly to back suplex, Jimmy Smith went to the top rope. Joey C: Looking for his UP ALL NIGHT flying elbow drop from the top rope, when Jimmy Smith came crashing down, he made contact with nothing but the mat, with Marion having played possum and played it well. Mark Perletta: At that point it was all over for Jimmy Smith as Marcus Marion locked on the Subliminal Message camel clutch, and after holding him in it for about fifteen seconds with no alternative, Big Jimmy was forced to tap out. Joey C: The show not slowin' down at all backstage as the World Champion is making newbies tap out in the ring. BACKSTAGE
The scene opens in a make-shift office where Smith Cartwright stands behind a desk, and across from him is Herbert J Moxley. They appear to be in mid-conversation. Smith Cartwright: I understand what you're saying, and I would agree, it does seem like Chris Turner cheated to win those belts, and honestly, I'd like to be able to give you and Cassidy the rematch for the World Tag Team Titles next week, but the fact is, I can't. Herbert J Moxley: Sure you can, you book matches all the time, and Sir Stephen wouldn't have a problem with it, I know he wouldn't. Cartwright interrupts him. Smith Cartwright: That's not it, Herb. The thing is, the front office has already booked you for next week already, so your rematch for the World Tag Team Titles, it'll have to wait. Herbert J Moxley: Who would they book D.J. and I to face instead? Smith shakes his head. Smith Cartwright: Not you AND D.J., just you. You've been given a World Television Title shot next week against Nicholas Creed. Herbert J Moxley's eyes get really big and he looks completely shocked. Smith Cartwright: I'll see what I can do about booking your rematch for the following week, but I can't make any promises. The important thing is that you and Cassidy have a rematch for the belts, you're entitled to it, and you will get that match, just not next week. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go run and find some people so I can make an announcement regarding next week's show. Smith Cartwright takes his PDA and walks out of the office, leaving Moxley behind. The Camera zooms in on Moxley who seems to be in shock. Moxley: The television title... the one that got away... He licks his lips and nods slowly, a look of excited determination fills his eyes.
INTERNATIONAL INVITE
Mark Perletta: Each week it seems like there's something new to announce, some new deal that the front office has worked out with someone, and this week, we have more than one thing to announce. Joey C: As if a one hour show on FX isn't enough of an announcement for this week, we've got another. Mark Perletta: Yes we do, and apparently this is a deal that the front office has been trying to work out the past month, and it finally got the first phase finalized. In the upcoming weeks, several international superstars will be joining the LEGACY Tour on an interim basis. From what we understand a competitor from Mexico has signed on to a "per-appearance" deal that could lead to something long-term, and Rob Belote himself made a trip to Japan and agreed to a deal with one of the organizations in the land of the rising son to have one of their tag teams temporarily join the LEGACY Tour as well. Joey C: Being "in the know" as I am and being tight with several people in the front office, I've seen the tapes of the three international competitors, and let me tell you, I'm certainly impressed. Mark Perletta: Well if their reputations mean anything, they'll be great additions to the roster, and from what I understand, the competitor from Mexico, Diego de Cardenas, will be in the Sky High Exhibition match either next week or the week before. Joey C: That should be a good match. That guy reminds me a lot of Rey Mysterio - a small but extremely quick luchador who pulls off some crazy moves. Mark Perletta: Well with what happened between John Thomas, Jake Dominion, and Eric Wolfson, the LEGACY front office wasn't going to let that go unsettled. Take a look.
BACKSTAGE
Smith Cartwright stands backstage, with John Thomas on one side of him, and on the other side stand Jake Dominion and Eric Wolfson. A security officer stands behind Cartwright on either side, making sure that nothing goes down. Smith Cartwright: When something goes down backstage, the LEGACY front office likes to take care of it as soon as possible, and we've found in our experience in this business that the way to get things settled is in the ring. Smith looks over at Wolfson and Dominion. Smith Cartwright: Earlier tonight you two started and finished an altercation with John Thomas. Smith then turns his focus over to John Thomas momentarily. Smith Cartwright: Now that fight could've been avoided had you just kept your temper down, but given that you had just lost your World Television Title to Nicholas Creed, I think everyone can understand where you're coming from. Cartwright then looks back over at Wolfson and Dominion. Smith Cartwright: Now like I mentioned earlier, we like to settle things in the ring here in LEGACY wherever possible, so I've been given the "go ahead" to set something up. Since John Thomas already had one match tonight, this match is going to wait for next week. Jake Dominion, your first ever LEGACY Tour match is going to be against John Thomas next week, but you won't be going into the ring alone. Cartwright looks directly at Eric Wolfson, and both he and Dominion look a bit surprised. Smith Cartwright: Eric Wolfson, we keep hearing about how you've retired from the business, but it's become obvious to the front office that you're not really acting as Creed's manager right now, so that leaves your position with this company up in the air. Next week, you have a chance to cement your spot in LEGACY, because you are going to be Jake Dominion's partner for a tag match next week. If you choose to come down to the ring, you'll be presented with the same contract that your client Nicholas Creed is signed to, and if you choose not to be a part of the LEGACY Tour roster, that's your choice... Cartwright then looks over at Jake Dominion. Smith Cartwright: But you'll be leaving your friend "J.D. Ice" Jake Dominion high and dry, because whether he comes down to the ring with you or without you, Jake Dominion will be in a tag match against John Thomas and a partner of his choosing. The only question is whether it's going to be a two-on-two match, or whether it's going to be a handicap match. Your choice. The camera zooms out to show John Thomas standing there with a grin on his face, nodding his head, with justice being served. Mark Perletta: It was reassuring to me to see Smith Cartwright take this situation and make it right. The front office has done a great job thus far of making sure that people don't just get away with things and that they have to answer for their actions. Joey C: Yeah, like this is such a big deal. Do you really think Jake Dominion cares about having to get into the ring with John Thomas? I don't think so. In fact, I know he doesn't. Now I don't know what Eric Wolfson intends to do next week, whether he's going to be forced out of retirement to compete in this match or not, but seriously, who is John Thomas going to find as a tag team partner for this thing? Mark Perletta: THAT is a very good question, especially considering the fact that unlike 40 days ago, John Thomas doesn't have many friends backstage right now. It should be interesting, because if John Thomas can't find himself a tag team partner, that match might be a one-on-one match, though I imagine that with some of the enemies that Creed is making thus far, John Thomas could always go that route in trying to find a partner. One way or another, that's at least a third match that we heard will happen on next week's show, which is shaping up to be a great card, with this match being signed, a World Television Title Match being signed between Herbert J Moxley and Nicholas Creed, and don't forget about the huge announcement that was made earlier, as Marcus Marion will be defending his World Heavyweight Title next week against Greyson Blade. All of that will be going down next week in addition to some sort of Sky High Exhibition match. Should be a great show. Joey C: Speaking of Sky High Exhibition Matches, lets get down to the Main Event, shall we?
SKY HIGH EXHIBITION
Stephen Rawlings vs Dan Stein Mark Perletta: Things got started off nice and quick with Rawlings taking control using some quick suplexes, but Dan Stein fought right back. Joey C: Dan Stein took his own approach to things, hitting some high energy moves and reversals to get back on the offensive. Mark Perletta: Like a game of ping-pong or a tennis match, this thing kept going back and forth, with Dan Stein and Stephen Rawlings both trading reversals back and forth, Rawlings taking more of a technical approach, and Stein taking more of a flashy approach. Joey C: You know, I noticed something about Dan Stein in this match that I hadn't noticed in his matches before. It was like he had this confidence to him, like he knew that any move Rawlings put him in, he was going to get out of it. Mark Perletta: Well he was able to do that for the first half of the match, but after Stephen Rawlings blocked an inverted atomic drop attempt and dropped Dan Stein onto his head with a DDT, that slowed him down a bit. Joey C: It was at that point in the match where Stein stopped going for the flashier moves and really got down to business, playing things rough pretty much brawling to take back control of the match. Mark Perletta: Well at that point the fans didn't seem to know what to think. Up until that point the fans had been cheering for both men and for the type of match they were used to getting from Sky High, but the way Stein got himself back into the match, with closed right fists, they seemed a bit stunned to say the least. Joey C: Yeah well once Dan Stein was brawling more, that opened the door wide open for Stephen Rawlings to hit a few closed fists to bring himself back into the match. Mark Perletta: He did hit a couple, but then he went right back in on the suplexes, and that's how he really got back into the match. In fact, he nearly got a win at that point, hitting a cross body block off the top rope and holding on into a pinfall attempt, getting a long two count. Joey C: I still think I remember Stephen Rawlings trying to pull the tights for extra leverage on that one, but it didn't work out for him, 'cause he only got a two count. Mark Perletta: From there Dan Stein got himself back into the match, using a mixture of brawling and some flashy dropkicks and takedowns. It was also this point in the match where Dan Stein started to get really frustrated. Rawlings irish whips Stein into the ropes and on the return Stephen ducks down, Stein floats over and goes for a sunset flip. Before Stein can get Rawlings' shoulders on the mat, though, Stephen reached back, grabbed Dan's legs and hooked him into a pinfall position. ONE!!! TWO!!! Stein kicks out and both men work to get back to their feet. Stein grabs Rawlings by the head and rolls backwards into a small package, but Rawlings rolls through and turns it into a pinfall attempt of his own. ONE!!! TWO!! THR.... NO!! TWO!! Stein is able to unhook his legs from the predicament and shoulder out JUST before the three count would have hit. When they get back to their feet, Stein lays into Rawlings with two straight right hands, then grabs him by the arm, backs up, scopes the ring, and starts in for an irish whip, but instead of irish whipping him in one direction, Stein reverses his momentum before letting go and he then sends Rawlings in the opposite direction... right into the referee. Mark Perletta: After knocking the referee down, Dan Stein then proceeded to head out of the ring, and while he was out there, he grabbed a chair from near the time keeper's table and then after thinking about things for a minute, he slid back into the ring. Joey C: I'm sure to the shock of most of the people watching, Dan Stein didn't hit Stephen Rawlings with that chair. Sure, he probably thought about it, but he didn't. Mark Perletta: Yeah well before he could, the referee got up off the mat and took the chair from him, which shocked Dan Stein just long enough to give Stephen Rawlings an opportunity to get behind Stein and take him down with a belly to back release suplex. While Dan Stein worked to try to get up off the mat after the huge impact from the suplex, Rawlings went to the outside and then climbed up to the top turnbuckle. Joey C: When Rawlings came flying off the top rope and landed on Stein's shoulders, Dan Stein tried to hold him up, and it looked like he was going to send Rawlings through the mat with a powerbomb... Stein even held Rawlings up into the air and turned around to face the middle of the ring... Mark Perletta: But he was unable to keep Rawlings from spinning through and completing the Hurricanrana, hooking the legs and going for the pinfall, and Dan Stein tried to kick out, but by the time he did it was too late, and Stephen Rawlings had won tonight's main event. Joey C: I still think that the referee made a quick count on account of Dan Stein having ACCIDENTALLY thrown Stephen Rawlings into him, but what's done is done and Stephen Rawlings picks himself up a lucky win for the second week in a row in a Shockwave Main Event Match. Mark Perletta: The past two weeks have been good for Stephen Rawlings, getting the tag titles last week and then picking up a win in a Sky High Exhibition match against a former Sky High Cup winner, but with the time we have remaining in our timeslot here tonight, we have to show you what happened backstage after the show was over.
BACKSTAGE
The scene shifts outside the arena to the parking garage where nothing seems to be happening, and it’s a strange way to end an episode of Shockwave, when the action appears to be in the ring, when suddenly we see The Outlaw walking towards the arena entrance from the garage. Sans neck brace, he still appears very ragged. Dressed in blue jeans and plain black t-shirt, he suddenly stops dead in his tracks as there are voices and a commotion coming from the entrance/exit. The door bursts open, and out comes the lovely Nicole Rhodes, seconded by Susan Rhodes, and finally coming in third is none other than The LEGACY Champion with the belt over his shoulder, but dressed to the 9s in his street clothes, a stark contrast to the man blocking their path. There is but a moment when Blade clenches his fists, and Marion’s eyes go wide as he looks to his right and sees the man he cheated out of the chance to become LEGACY Champion, and then cheated out of the National Title. Then, it happens. The Outlaw charges full speed ahead at the man with the gold and lowers his shoulder. Marion, instinctively dives out of the way, and in so doing pushes off of Susan, tossing her into the path of the oncoming Outlaw. There is a cry of horror from Nicole as a scream is trapped in Susan’s throat. It would be one thing for The Outlaw to have leveled the 6’1, roughly 230 pound Marcus Marion, but this is the 5’7, 120-pound Susan Rhodes. His shoulder hits her ribs with a vicious crack, and the momentum of the blow carries The Outlaw and his victim over the hood of a low-rider car, smashing Susan into the windshield of the car with a sickening, exploding pop, shattering it. There is a groan of agony from Susan as blood begins to trickle down her forehead. Marion grabs Nicole’s arm as she screams in fear and desperation, trying to run towards her cousin. Instead, Marion hauls her to his vehicle, and begins cursing and screaming at Greyson who slides off of the body and looks at his truck and thinks for a moment about going after Marion. The camera view changes from behind the accident, looking up at a frustrated Blade, who turns around to see the damage. The view is partially blotted out because it’s coming right next to the vehicle and you see Susan’s arm hanging over the hood. A look of horror crosses Greyson’s face as he screams. The Outlaw: SOMEONE GET SOME HELP BACK HERE … SOMEONE GET A FUCKING MEDIC! There is the movement of feet, and The Outlaw looks down at her, covering
his mouth disgusted with himself, and for a moment there is no sound
until there is the almost inaudible “plop” of a blood droplet,
coursing its way down Susan’s arm to the concrete, and the scene
fades to black. |
