Loudoun Street Hockey League

The opening week for our 2016 Spring Season was an exciting one.  With the exception of the first game, we were treated to some extremely close hockey.  Fresh off of their first finals appearance in LSHL history, The Misfits were determined to get back to their winning ways.  Though Book Hockey held them to a 1-1 tie after 20 minutes of play, the floodgates opened in the second half.  The Misfits went on to score 8 unanswered goals, picking up a convincing 9-1 win.  John Hassan led the Misfits with 2  goals and 3 assists.  The night’s second game came down to the final minutes.  The Leesburg Lowercases jumped ahead of the Punishers early, with goals from Keith Cross, Daniel Wendling, and Tim Fialcowitz.  Last season’s leading goal scorer Matt McCarthy, along with Punisher captain Landon Jester, tied the game midway through the second half.  Keith Cross would score the game winner (his third of the night for the hat trick), late in the second, capping off the Leesburg Lowercases 5-4 victory.  The last game of the night took an extra period to decide, as Ovenchicken beat the Vienna Orange Wings 4-3 in OT.  Brandon Gauthier had two goals for Ovenchicken, and Matt Burton scored the game winning overtime goal!
