The weather finally cooperated for us again, and we were able to get in some great hockey! First up was the Leesburg Lowercases against the Hawks. The Hawks carried a 3-1 lead into the second half, but the Lowercases battled back to even the score. However, midway through the period, the Hawks would get an offensive boost with goals from Mark Gaeckle and Gregg Trawinski (his third of the night). Those goals proved to be the final blow, as the Hawks held on for the 5-3 win. In the late game, we had another tight contest between Book Hockey and Ovenchicken. Book Hockey fought back in the second half from a 2-1 deficit, with a tying goal from Ryan Mottram. Minutes later, Jessica Huff scored for Ovenchicken to break the tie, and that would hold up as the game winner. Connor Dwyer scored shortly after, cementing Ovenchicken’s 4-2 victory.
