The first week of Summer Hockey gave us two really close and exciting games.  The Leesburg Lowercases and Hawks were tied 1-1, late in the second half.  Lowercases’ captain, Keith Cross scored with under 5 minutes left, after a nice face-off win by Dan Wendling.  The Hawks fought back, pulling their goalie with about a minute left, but they were unable to even the score.  The Lowercases put in two empty net goals, and the final result was Lowercases: 4, Hawks: 1.  The Punishers earned their first win of the season, in a tight 5-3 victory over Ovenchicken.  The score was 3-3 midway through the second half, but Greg White took a feed from Landon Jester and scored the game winning goal.  Landon scored the empty netter to put the nail in the coffin.  Due to not being able to field a team, Book Hockey forfeited their game to the Misfits.
